I think it would be interesting to start a post on your GenIII builds in older muscle cars. And your ETs. Post away smile

09 Jeep GC... 5.7 13.76@99mph.... Mods are K&N intake, Diablosport 93 tune, full SRT8 factory headers and exhaust with cat delete..... 2WD with factory 3.73 rear gear sure grip weighs 4400LBS.... I would not build a gen3 with any heads heads earlier than the Eagles. Anybody still building an LA based engine is spending more money and leaving power on the table compared to the new small block Hemi.....

Tpabayflyer: Were you able to get away from a check engine light when you deleted your cats?

I'll keep checking in. I didn't really see anything on A bodies only that was NA and running well enough to twist my arm yet.

^^^ That is pretty dang impressive right there! I will probably never make a "good" pass in mine but I couldnt be happier with its performance on pump gas and 0 maintenance and ability to drive it anywhere.

Me and my brother are looking to build one for late next year/early 2018. We picked up a 5.7 complete for cheap so we've been selling off parts we don't need. Trying to get rid of some early 5.7L heads right now. We will do a half fill on the block for added rigidity. I've located some 6.1 heads that I'll have CNC'd at some point as well as getting some other parts purchased. We're just going to take our time with it so its done right. We want to do something different so we're going to wind ours up quite a bit to make peak power up in the rpms.

If anyone wants some early 5.7 heads:

Seems like almost everyone I read about is in a "heavy weight" car. I do the math and still come up with numbers short of the good old fashion LA small blocks. If I'm going to spend double the money I want to see ET on the table. My LA stuff is available dirt cheap so I keep stocking up.

I am not sure the value is 100% there for people wanting to switch from LA to gen III just yet. But if your starting with nothing there is no question that gen III is the way to go.

Agreed, and a nice roller rocker arm setup under $1200 would be great too for those wanting to run higher lifts and taller springs!

There's a guy on the LXForums that's run a 9.4 @ 144 mph in a 3200 lb Magnum. It's a pretty decent build, 468" and Thitek heads. I'm sure a similar time could be run at less cubes and Apache heads, just have to twist it harder.

You should wait till we get the small cam out of that monster and the new one in
A lil more head and get that stock intake worked on some and we're hoping for a much better number
