I bought a steering coupler rebuild kit for my 1966 Coronet. The spring that keeps the shoes against the housing has a large radius "bump" on the top that prevents it from fitting inside the coupler housing. I see ONE and only ONE reference to this on the internet. It seems that the coupler housing and spring are different prior to 1966. Does anyone know where to go to find an early kit for a coupler rebuild?

Do the new shoes fit and if so can you reuse your old spring , assuming it's not destroyed ?

Unfortunately, I am starting from scratch on this project and don't have the old spring. Steer & Gear looks promising, THANKS

If you have power steering 2530540 should be the part number you need for the spring. Apparently you need two of them. http://arizonaparts.com/ and https://bradsnosparts.com/product/2530540/ should have it.

Thanks for the info. Due to the suggestions on here, I called Steer & Gear. They sell a complete unit with an improved seal. I placed the order today. Again, thanks for the help from all of you, I didn't know about most of these sources.

Does anyone know a source for these early flat-style springs? The one on the left.
