My first 4 speed.

We have everything apart and a new rebuild kit for the Z bar. Does this clip go into the holes that are in the sides of the Ball Stud Bearings once you slide everything into the Z bar? I would call them nylon bushings, whatever I guess. We know which ball stud they go on and which side of the Z bar that it goes into.

This appeared to be way it was assembled when we pulled it apart.

Another question. How do you get the rubber seal over the ball stud? I thought about heating it and then using dish soap or Windex to get it to stretch and slide over.

Thanks

Yes, if you look at the outside of the nylon bushings you'll see a groove cut into it, that's where the tips of the clip slide in. Can't remember on the rubber seal, been too long - will it slide over the threaded end before you screw it in? (I'm thinking I just stretched it over the ball end, but like I said, it was a long time ago.)

You grease the ball and push the rubber seal over it. Warming it up in boiling water might help soften it but I never bothered with that.
