Sept 19,2009 at PRP is your chance to race (Big Daddy) Don Garlits. Check it out at www.pittsburghracewaypark.com. I know its only in a street car but it would still be neat to race a living legion.

Here is the article from the article from the website:

“Big Daddy” Don Garlits races again at the Big 3 Showdown January 12, 2009, New Alexandria PA - “Big Daddy” is leaving Florida behind for the fall weather of Pennsylvania on September 19th 2009 to take on the winning racer of the Big 3 Showdown at Pittsburgh Raceway Park. The King of the Dragsters, “Big Daddy” Don Garlits, is the patriarch of Top Fuel Drag Racing. His “Swamp Rat” XXX dragster is enshrined in the Smithsonian Museum of American History. Bring your Camaro, Mustang, Challenger, or car from other American made manufacturers to Pittsburgh Raceway Park and make history in the world of Drag Racing. This is your chance to win a race against “Big Daddy” Don Garlits. Think of it! You can win a best of 3 races against the master! Compete in one of the Big 3 Series race events when you earn a spot in the Great 8 from each of the special series races. Cash and prizes will also be part of the themed-event, The Big 3 Showdown, at Pittsburgh Raceway Park on September 19, 2009. The individual events making up the Big 3 Showdown will be in a throw-back style, taking us back to the days when racing was done with very few rules. The Big 3 Showdown is the local economic shot in the arm for our beloved Detroit “Big Three.” We are confident that Detroit will be sorted out and they will move forward into the future. Sponsorship of this historic event is provided by local “Big 3” car dealerships and a growing list of regional businesses. If your business would like to participate, you can contact JW Bumbarger, Director of Marketing at Pittsburgh Raceway Park. Throughout the 2009 season, Chevrolet, Ford, and Dodge will respectively have a race day to flex their street muscle and compete in street type racing with a spotlight on Camaro, Mustang and Challenger. The race days will be open to all non-slick cars. Other rules will be in place to attract all hopefuls to participate. A complete set of basic rules is forth coming and can be seen by logging onto www.pittsburghracewaypark.com. Racers of each of the series race days will compete for a spot on the Great 8, with a final race on the Big 3 Showdown Race Day. Competitors will be trying to earn a place in the history books by winning the Grand Prize, a race against “Big Daddy” Don Garlits. The entire series will be part of the Pittsburgh Raceway Park Big 3 Showdown and will be raced during the Nostalgia Days event. If you prefer to show and shine your ride instead of race, Pittsburgh Raceway Park will also have a cruise-in on each of the race days for the folks who just want to look good! Nostalgia Days will also be the day for Sponserfest for racers and spectators alike. Dodge is building 100 Big Daddy packaged Dodge Challengers for 2009. Garlits will bring one of those name sake Challengers to race against the finalist of the Big 3 Series run off.
