I found this on eBay, its a new 2 barrel carburetor. http://www.ebay.com/itm/BBD-Lowtop-Fit-D...a81&vxp=mtr

I'm wondering if anyone has purchased one or know someone who has. If you know anything about these new (not rebuilt) carbs, please post. Thanks!

Well, if you read the description and still feel comfortable sending them money for a "new" chinese made carb, let us know how it turns out.

Myself, too many issues to be comfortable taking a chance sight unseen.

china ? china.

Doesn't even actually say Carter in the listing does it?

"Alloy carb type" is a nice touch though. grin

Personally I wouldn't bother with one, rebuilding a genuine one would be the route I would take.

Thanks for responding...I think deep inside I knew it wasn't a great idea, but had to ask. I'm going with the rebuild tomorrow. Thanks again!

Only thing I could think of was an oil bath air cleaner, but even then the oil never got to the carb.

We have had extremely good luck rebuilt's from Autoline out of Canada. any other parts store supplier is a crap shoot with us experiencing about an 85% failure rate. Rock auto carries them.

This carburetor cannot be used if you have cruise control. For some reason they chose to copy the 1967 and earlier throttle lever. The 1968 and later throttle lever has a "bump" and hole for attaching the lost motion link.

I wonder which calibration works with both 318 and slant 6 from 1967-1980? I wonder how you tune it if/when needed?

I too have had good luck with Autoline... and would go that route personally even though probably more expensive.

If you still have the OE carb that your eng came with I would highly suggest you kitting it. its perfectly matched to your eng. easy carb to rebuild. note where the (2) mini square "pads" are clocked on the horizontle shaft & return em to that position (might be "wear" patterns so you can easily discern that). set the float down in the bowl then install the needle/seat assy to a reasonably snug torque then adj the float level since torquing the needle/seat assy move it inward into the bowl further & alters float level so take care of that (needle/seat torque) first. EDIT not "wear" patterns but are witness patterns just from the bolt together contact of those 2 pads to the shaft. MORE EDIT (as posted later they can be hard to get out) leave the jets in there if you soak it, the soup can still get in there thru the jet orifices

Thanks for all the replies. I don't have the original carburetor. I ended up ordering a rebuild from Rockauto.com. It was only $111, far less then everyone else. I hope to have my car back on the road this time next week. Thanks again, Brian beer

Good core BBD's are a little hard to find. Most have worn throttle shafts that cause vacuum leaks and DIY bushing kits aren't available. Most factory rebuilds are bushed.

I've also had problems removing main jets, they get seized and the top of the brass jet shears off when attempting to remove.

I've seen a number of NOS BBD's for sale over the years. All were the newer versions with the plastic vent and metering rod adjustment arms on a shaft where this China remake is an older design without the vent.

I still may this repop when I convert my V200 to a 2bbl.
