I know that the Hellcat's are very new, but has anyone heard anything concerning repair issues with these cars, specifically transmission issues? I've been thinking of possibly ordering a '16 Challenger but haven't heard much about them except for the obvious.
Thanks!

Once they are bought, they seem to never go back to the dealerships again for anything so car sites are the only places you will find out any information. All I have read is that they are going faster and faster all the time and as for twisted driveshafts....sounds like its time for upgrades from Strange or Mark Williams or.....?? Warranty is most likely NOT going to cover a dead drivesaft if the car has been modded....??

The crank dampers are slipping on some. They were not pinned from the factory.

Saw a video on another one that had busted valves, hammered on the pistons, etc. Don't know what happened to that one.

If I can remember, when I get back to work on Monday, I'll check and see if there are any bulletins out on them....

I think Strange needs to come up with a bolt in S60 and driveshaft package. If you haven't been under a new Challenger the drivetrain looks like it belongs in a Volkswagon.

It happened to mine at 831 miles on the clock. As this thread was going, another member reported it happened to him also. So far not much in the way of trans issues.

The same differential has been used under the heavier and more powerful S65/CL65/SL65 cars for many years. Granted, they have auto transmissions but if 735 lb/ft in a 4800+ lb car won't break them they stand a good chance in a HC.

Some of those guys have built the cars to crank out more than 900 lb/ft and launch on slicks without lunching the diff.

The driveshaft and axles are not going to last under that abuse but that's kinda expected, don't you think?

So, the question that popped into my mind after reading your link is "how will not having the original engine affect future value"?

What choice did or do I have? Many cars back in the hay days had warranty engines. I don't see where these cars will ever have the appeal of the original Hemi cars. I bought it to enjoy. No kids to leave it to. Just glad to get some miles on it before the snow flies.

Slipped dampers toast the engine which get replaced under warranty. I've only heard of two cases. People talk about pinning them. I think thats a bad move as I suspect THAT might void the warranty.
The twisted driveshafts seem to happen with drag radials launched hard on sticky tracks. I think they've all been warranty replaced (meaning MOPAR paid for the Mark Williams unit) as well.

Service manager at my dealer told me when he notified FCA of my issue, they said it was the 4th one they had reported. When I picked up my car after repair, I talked to their SRT tech because I wanted to see the old engine. He advised against pinning the pulley til after warranty runs out. He said let them pay to replace it if it fails again.

No.

The guy who crashed the car in CO just screwed up and crashed his car.

There is very little power assist in cars when in motion. It simply isn't needed.

the more common issues that i have heard of are
leaking fuel rails that they had a recall for
and exhaust valves that either stick or they come apart
they are a 300 dollar part...
i have not seen anything bad with reguards to the transmissions

Dunno what choice you have, that wasn't the point of my thought tho. Point was a Hellcat will be/is a collector and you took a potential loss due to this is all.

I thought they were supposed to have a diamond encrusted crank washer ?

something must be off big time... it sounds like this guy was just driving along, not even beating on it.
