I repainted my grill in the GTX using argent paint from Totally Auto. It came out VERY nice and was wanting to paint the Demon grill with what I have left over. I know there is different "types" of argent, is the '70 B body the same, or close, to the '71 A body? I don't need to be 100% correct just so it doesn't look funny.

The silver on Demon Grilles is a smooth silver paint, not a textured argent.

So I'm looking for a silver paint not an argent. I guess I will try a quality brand name rattle can of silver.

Thanks Scott.

Totally Auto sells a can of silver called "Grille Silver" it's pretty close but only a custom match will be exact to original, I haven't seen any rattle can paint that's an exact match.

I bought a can of their grill silver. The amount of metallic seems to be right, when comparing it to my headlight surrounds, but the color itself was a hair too light. I'll probably go ahead and use it since it's close enough. Unless you were to hold a mint or nos grill right up next to it you would have a hard time telling the colors apart.

I went to Lowes and bought a rattle can of "dull aluminum" and it looks perfect. I don't recall the brand, but it's worth a try before you mail order some high dollar cans.

The Rustoleum Matte Nickel #727783 was a perfect match for the silver on a 71 Challenger grill I restored.

It has been my observation (and I may be dead wrong on this) that the 1970 Dart/Demon had a lighter silver grill (that coordinates with the '70 Rallye wheel centers), while 1971 Dart/Demon had a darker silver grill (that coordinates with the '71 Rallye wheel centers). You may need to look at a '70 and '71 Dart/Demon side by side to notice the difference.
Can anyone confirm/deny?

That would be a no. The same silver but 71 had blacked out center.

New information.

I just called Totally Auto to order their "silver grill" paint but they informed me that the '71 Demon should use the light argent textured grill paint, not the non-textured silver grill paint. I asked what the '70 GTX used and they told me that it was the same as the '71 Demon, light argent textured .

I have owned a 70 and a 71 dart and know that the silver grill paint is identical on the two cars. It's a light metallic silver. It feels smooth to the touch and not gritty.

They sold me a can of the grill silver #865 for my 70 dart. It's not a 100% perfect match, but close enough.

I think AdamR said he uses the rallye wheel silver on his a-body grills.....Maybe the rallye wheel silver and the grill silver are the same thing or super close.

That's what I thought. Mine is original and it's smooth too. I would have thought that Totally Auto would know this. Maybe talk to someone beside the secretary next time....

Should be smooth. I use Rallye wheel silver and SEM trim black.

If the Ralley wheel paint is the same as I think you're talking about Adam, P/N is P4529876 and you can get it at the dealer

NOPE! The Demon grills were never textured silver.

Yup, Ive used that but any wheel silver is usually close if you dont want to pay for the mopar stuff.
