Getting a new engine together for this year. It's a 540 nitrous motor, so I built some 2 1/4 headers, and modified a Charlies tube chassis oil pan. I would have done a 2 1/4 to 2 3/8 step header, but I built everything around the torsion bars, even though I will switch to Bob's coil over conversion kit. I want the option to switch back if needed, and these were hard enough to fit.

Great Job,

I believe I will have to do the same thing. I have 2" ProParts, but will be running a 499 and believe I need a bigger primary.

I am a good fabricator, but never tried to build headers. Not even sure where to start!

Very nice...looks real professional,

Please do me a favor, unbolt that Milodon oil filter adapter off the pump, tap the two holes and plumb yourself a remote filter...PLEASE get rid of that accident waiting to happen oil filter arangement while the motor is apart....

GTSDave, and Ari440, I got everything from Stahl headers. J bends and L bends are your best bets. You don't need too many U bends, or straight sections, you'll have enough straight tubes left over. Think it out, and get a helper. I could of used a extra set of hands. Thanks.

Thanks Tony! I have a Indy filter adaptor that has the fittings for a remote filter, but I can't figure out where to mount it? The vacuum pump, and puke tank are on that side, as well as the overflow for the radiator. Is it the oil pump to adaptor that your worried about? This adaptor is a billet part with O rings(can't remember the co?)
Is it just having the filter in this stock location? Thanks for the tips over the years, keep em coming.

About 400 with the collectors, and some tabs to bolt the collectors to the seperate tubes. They are still 6 seperate pieces like the ProParts, plus the collectors.

Well if its an Indy adapter with orings then your good, i thought it was a Milidon, a very poor design that has only two bolts spread very far away from the two holes, and a thick paper gasket that is notorious for blowing out and causing crashes etc....
Updates look good, get that car to a sea-level track and you have a very bad a$$ Mopar there It should run very well...

Thanks,

Took the week off to try and finish the last patches to the floor pans, and tubbs. Then start stripping it and prepping for paint.

Hope to get in some long days this week with the kids in school and the wife at work, should give me plenty of time to get things done.

Don't want to put in the race engine until the engine bay is painted. I have a mock up engine in it right now but it has 906 heads, and the race engine has SR's on it, soon to be changed out for 440-1's. So much work....So little time!

I really like the way you did yours. Mine will be a bear because I will be running NSS and must keep stock steering. To further complicate things I am running a Jerico with manual clutch linkage (Per Rules.) Makes my head spin just thinking about how much of a bear it will be to build headers for this car. Almost wish there was someone local I could drop it off to and have them done.

very nice job on the headers!!! where did you get those flanges??
i had headers made that are very similar to yours, they're also 2 1/4, 4" collectors. i have a NA 540, with future plans (pipe dream) for an F2.

Those headers look really nice. You would think though with all the parts to make big Mopars now someone would come out with a bigger header. Keep up the good work!
