My Durango has about 100,000 miles and it started burning a quart of oil every 300 miles seems to run perfectly fine no check engine light it just passed smog check a week ago. Although from time to time . A small amount of smoke is visible, any burning odor it doesn't actually smell like burning oil but I'm assuming with it using that much oil it has to be oil burning

A quart every 300 is a lot, try replacing the PCV, I seen one doing that, I have seen more that just smoke till you replace the engine (rings, valve guides)but good luck finding one, I am looking for 3 currently.

Maybe it's sucking it up by the intake gasket? Intake is plastic I think.

The only way the intake sees oil on a 4.7 is the pcv valve. It is plastic but has a dry valley and o rings to seal the ports. It is an overhead cam engine.

I had an '06 Dakota with the H.O. 4.7. It used a quart every 5-800, and sometimes smoked like crazy on startup. Never did find out why. Traded it off with 60K on it.

Hmm. wife's 05 Ram never had an issue with the 4.7.

Don't be the exception.

4.7s seem to be a crapshoot. They are either troublefree or turds.

I'll agree with checking or replacing the pcv, preferably with a dealer piece.
