Hi folks,
Changing out my transfer case switching motor in my 04 Dodge Durango. The gear on the new unit isn't positioned in the same spot as the old one that came off.

Don't have a FSM handy but is it OK to power it up by the harness and basically play with it until I get it close, then bolt it on.......

Or I'm wondering if anyone has the wiring pinout such that I can jumper it on a bench and reclock it that way?

When I try to move the transfer case "shaft" it just comes out to a position that the switching motor won't mount flush to the housing.

Any ideas?
Thanks
Dean

Do you have the wheels off the ground? Try that to unload the drivetrain and see if you can shift the t case.
I wouldn't play with powering up the motor.

Ok, yeah, my son & I were just discussing that idea. Now, I'm finishing up another little project on another car to free up some jackstands.

The idea of applying voltage, playing around with, a new ($130) module doesn't excite me either.

Thanks for the input.

OK, finally got back under that Durango and it took all of 3 minutes to spin the rr wheels and get that motor clocked and flush up to the transfer case.

Anyone know the torque spec for the 8mm bolts to fasten the motor to the case housing???

Searched all over Google and nothing is that specific.

Thanks folks for the help thus far! wave

Got it,

Found a generic chart for a class "4T" 8mm X 1.25......108 in.lbs.
