Forecast is for 40-60 mph winds tomorrow.
Been there, done that at Fontana.

Ok, maybe only 25-35 mph. But thats enough.

Why do you not like Fontana g bob? Did you go to a street legal race or another race? Just wondering.

The race got cancelled due to wind.

I'm quite certain he was showing his feelings on racing in the wind. I tend to agree with him....and it was nasty windy on this side of the desert too today.

Where do they race at? Fontana is a real time warp for me...Lived there from 64'-68'..Back then Hemi's were in all kinds of race cars..

Fontana's layout makes racing during windy days very dangerous. Last year a guy wrecked his new GTO on the top end and it wasn't that windy. Once you have experienced it you will know, I am pleased they did not run the races the track would of been full of trash. The track is in California Speedways parking lot.

Was referring to the wind. Have run in the winter there when the wind was blowing and it was miserable.

I actually like Fontana. Have run my best times there.

I wish they'd put up lights and run a weekly bracket program. Something like Wed or Sat nights. Also need to NOT announce a hangover national type bracket race and then run a pile of junior dragsters with it so the real cars only get a couple of runs. They'll lose the support of the real racers in a hurry that way.

They need to get back to why that track was started back before they moved it to the north lot. To get racers off the street. They're making it a corporate track and catering too much to special events. There's only 9 street legal dates scheduled this year.

Ok, rant off.

I'd go out and run SCEDA on the 17th and the summit series on the 31st this month if my junk wasn't torn apart.

Thanks for the input g-bob. I work there part time on the starting line and also race out there. I currently race my 57 Chevy P/U in Summit Series Pro and going to race SCEDA No-E this year until I finish my 67 Belvedere. The hangover race was always a jr's points race and the hangovers was an after thought. Next year it will be big cars only. Lights will be coming sometime in the future. As far as more street legal races out there I doubt it will change until lights are installed. There are to many different associations that want to race out there and only so many available dates. Being that this is the only 1/4 mile operated track in So-Cal besides Pomona with the two nationals that is what we are stuck with.

I went to the hangover as a spectator. I told my friends that if this was the way it was going to be, I'd never race at the track. I'd go to Irwindale, Barona or haul over to speedworld.

As much as the jr's need a place to race, gaffing the big cars for $100, to get two runs in two days, is borderline criminal, IMHO.

I won't ever attend another race with the lawnmowers. Had I known, I wouldn't have driven 100-120 miles to the track to watch.

I've spoken with a lot of people that feel the same way. Maybe you could pass along the disgust of at least 100 people about the event to the management.

Thanks for your work on the starting line.

I know what you are talking about Rob. I raced the hangover. We had more cars then expected and way to much down time with oil downs, etc. It looked good on paper but mangement did not think they would get the big turnout that they ended up getting. I saw cars out there I have not seen since the Mopar race in May or Super Chevy. You always get a big turnout with a big guaranted purse! Mangement is aware that some people were not happy. Trial and error! The only other thing out there that run with jr's is SCEDA. It usually runs very smoothly. The parents that race as will as have a jr like it because it makes it nice hauling everything out there for one weekend instead of two seperate weekends. Like I said before, due to the good turnout of the hangovers, next year is big cars only and suppose to be two seperate days to win. Thanks for the thanks! I enjoy working out there when I am not racing myself.
