Does anyone know where you can get a rear gas tank strap for a 1984 Dodge D100? I have been looking but have not been able to find one yet. Would it be possible to make one? Thanks

yes, weld a bolt to a 2" wide strip of sheet metal and a piece of 2" angle.

drill 2 holes in the angle piece to bot to frame. bolt goes thru upper cross member.

I had the local metal shop cut the strip. 5$ and 3$ for bolt/angle.

Nope. I couldn't even find them back in teh 90's! Fab your own.

The ones I have seen are for 88-93. Have not found any for anything older. Do u know where u saw those at? Thanks

Will those ones for a 88 work on a 84? Those ones I have found are listed for 88-93. I did see a different part number for the earlier trucks but it wasn't available.

IIRC they should be the same. I have sold a few off junk trucks for members that had mid 80s trucks in general.

I think the straps are about the same and the tanks are different size/gallon.

my 35 gallon tank in the 85 stepside went from axle to up under the seat area.

stuck a 18 gallon tank right in there with those same straps. went from axle to front of bed area and not under the cab.

I had a hole drilled in the bed on one of those trucks to get the nut on the stud end of the strap.

I have made a couple easy enough. but now the 440 truck has a fuel cell and I used a 70 mustang tank behind the axle (like a RC/TD) in the 85 stepside.

I would have 2 set but just junked both trucks last month. sorry.
