I have dana 35 carrier out of a 97 grand cherokee and was just wondering if I could put it in the front of my 99 dakota? Supposedly they are both dana 35 so...

Hmm I didn't know the Dana 35 ever came in front axles. I guess if the spline count lined up it would be worth a shot.

I have had a limited slip and a locker in the front of my XJ. The locker actually behaves better in winter weather. The limited slip would act like a spool on ice and packed snow and it would cut the turning radius down big time, with the locker it at least goes open when your off the throttle or put it in 2wd. The locker was of course way way better offroad,

I see some aftermarket parts listed as 27 spline and some as 30, you might have to check each application to make sure

Also are you sure you want to drive around with a locked up front?

I figured if a posi in the rear helps then why not one in the front but I think you are right that in the snow it may be hard to get it to turn a corner.

I already had the thing sitting here is why I even considered this, don't know what else to do with it.

they definitely help in the front, I run aussie lockers in the front of trucks I need to turn and a spool in the front of my mud trucks. Without any give they are a bear to turn in 4wd.

Now if the trac loc does give a bit on corners it would be more manageable.

find some sucker who needs to rebuild his junk 35 and sell it to him....the 35 is a POS compared to a 30 or a 44. I have 44's in my jeep, the cj is running a lockrite in the front 30 and the yj has eaton E-lockers, my wife's tj has a 44 in the back with the trac lock, still runs good after a rebuild. 35 uses c-clips and are known to break.
