Let`s see how many post and then we can set a date. The lanes get pretty crowed but on my first visit I got 6-passes and could of gotten more but wanted to completely cool down bet. rounds. I`d like to make this happen soon if possible.

I just would like to get some decent weather to get my heap to the track and see if the converter is close this time. At my house right now it is 37 degrees with FOG....The Fog just will not give us much of a break this year so far.

I don`t know if it`s worth it to come down for some 1/8 mi. passes for you but, I totally dig it and if you can get em to work good on the first half(1/8th) and the fuel delivery`s there, It`ll only get better when we hit the full boogoe 1/4.

6.97 , 1.44 , @ 93mph
But it has a problem with oil pressure. It was acting like it was sucking the pan dry just driving around normal, but the dip stick shows plenty. Then I added a quart of Oil after I left the track (since I had to go buy one) and it made it better, but did not cure it 100%. I am thinking it broke the little basket off the oil pump pickup or the dip stick is not indicating right or something. Adding that one quart made a huge dfference.
It practically had NO oil pressure on that last run, thats why the MPH was down from 95. I was getting out of it. The Oil pressure permissive shut the motor off after the burnout. But I don't think it hurt it since the cruise / freeway speed pressure was exactly what it was before on the way home. I will drain the oil soon and see what I get out of it (volume) and cut open the oil filter and have a look and then thump the bottom of the pan and listen to see if I hear anything bouncing around in there.

I am pretty sure I will be there.
The Valiant actually had 2 different problems. I thrashed and blew the car apart, took the motor apart and fixed it and put it all back together and was driving it 6 days later.
It was losing oil pressure because the oil pump pick up was not tight enough and it tightened "into" the oil pump raising the basket 2" off the bottom of the pan. Don't ask me how it did that. Possibly on a hard launch the oil sloshing did that???
The second problem was found investigatin the first. It had a bad THRUST bearing. When I drained the oil filter, it looked like COPPER PAINT! But there was no big chunks or pieces of any size in the filter when I cut it apart. Then I checked the thrust before I even took anything apart. It was .013 , Oops, factory specs are .002-.007 with max allowable of .010 So, the thrust on the crank was not hurt or burnt or anything, but just a worn out bearing. I am 90% sure it was because my converter was tight on the transmission splines as I had to help it mate to the transmission with a rubber mallet. Me and the converter and trans Guys all believed this would be OK. I was told and believed that the converter would work back and forth and release its self or loosten and act normal and upon dissasymbly, it would just come apart like normal. But after about 300 street miles and going to Irwindale twice and racing and breaking the trans at Fontana, when I took it out, the converter would not come off the trans. I had to use two BIG screwdrivers to pry it off. So, I think after putting in the flexplate bolts and tightening them it was pulling backwards on the crank 100% of the time and that is not supposed to happen. The bearing was worn out on the FRONT side only. The thrust sould probably be nuetral 99% of the time.
Anyhow, the engine now has better oil pressure than before. Go figure........

Kinda funny. We run 215-220 MPH at Fontana, with no worries of any sort? How do so many of you 9,10,11 second cars have so much trouble there? My car with the B-1 motor, felt like it was on a rail when I went 8.72 & 8.66 @ 155+ MPH at Fontana. Have I been to better tracks? Of course, but, Fontana isn't all that bad. I will have no problem taking my car to Fontana, with the new Hemi. Irwindale seems like a fun track, with a cool atmosphere, but, that's about where it stops for me. We took a mid 7 second(quarter mile time) car there, years ago, and it literally did a bunny hop in the left lane, going through the lights. Hope you guys have a good time.

I will be there. I need a good weather window to go. That means 0% chance of rain predicted on Thursday and Friday. Because I have to go race and then drive the Valiant to work Thursday night. Then drive it home from Pasadena to Rancho Cucamonga at 7AM Friday. As of now there is 0% predicted after Monday for at least a week! Yipee!

I showed up for about an hour just to watch. The track looked to me to be slippery. Many cars were spinning including Rons Valiant. Its normally wheels up and it just spun. Still ran killer though. I got to see Thumperdart make a pass. I just wasnt there long enough to talk to anybody. I got there at 7:50 and left at 9:00. I had to wake up for work at 3:00. I would be in for going to Famoso. I love that track. Im in the process of putting another engine together for my brothers car. Should have some more steam. Anyways, the air was cool and seemed dry which is all good, but the traction seemed less than desireable. I watched many cars that usually hook good just spin the tires.

Troy, I did a new best of 6.96 and new best mph of 96.24 . I had not cracked 96 yet. But my 60 foot was off. I did 4ea 1.47s sixty foots and one 1.49 and last time I did a 1.44 with a slower ET and MPH. So I was definately not hooking as good. So I guess traction was constently bad for me but not too terrible. I really have not tried too much yet. Just getting comfy with it. Practicing on the tree. Can't wait to run a full quarter mile.
