Hey guys, & girls,

I have tried for the last 2-3 weeks to contact Charlie B.
I know of at least 2 or 3 other members that have also attempted to contact him.

Has ANYONE seen or spoken to Charlie in the past few weeks.

wish cc events would have some old style match racing, old a/fx, KOS style, FAST stock apprearing, alky floppers, sling shot, etc. Maybe not a class for each but a couple cars form the area that the events are at.

I need to see when Bowling Green is happening. I want to be ready for the slant race. This was 2007 in Bowling Green KY. 198 screaming cubic inches with 3 speed and 3:23's street tires and single legger

That is actually part of the reason for this thread.
Lots of people waiting, or wanting to discuss those type of things

CC events are not at Bowling Green this year.

Not 100% sure. But I know rain was a HUGE factor at that track the last 2 yrs. in a row.

If we could find Charlie,....we could ask him.

I would have to guess that the facility was too expensive and wanted paid up front.

I don't see anybody else stepping up to put on a 4 race (or more) series. It is an awful big risk especially in this economy.
Maybe once I get my status changed to "Investment Bank" I can qualify for a government handout in the form of tax dollars and start a series near everyone's homes

Actually I think he slit his own throat when he wanted to do so many races. It's hard to make any money when your biggest competition is yourself.

OK. Well here is my

I owned a tanning salon here in the Columbus area. Last year prior to the Columbus event, I put a sign on my front door that said CC Events outlet center. I had Charlie bring down 15-20 shirts, and about 40-50 tickets to the Columbus show. I was going to sell them from the salon.
I had over 30-40 ppl ask me "What is the Chrysler Classic"...

ADVERTISING

I have never heard a CC Events ad on radio or TV.

I ran a 30 sec. ad on radio for my salon, it cost me $470.00 for 3 . 30 sec. ads.
I had probably 10-12 new customers, and 50-60 ppl say they heard my ad. We went from tanning 80 ppl a day up to 115-120 a day.

Promotion, & advertising is the key to success in the retail business. I don't think that 1 show ....or 6 shows is the problem. It is how you advertise those shows.
Not to mention customer service is probably the biggest rule.

I agree with promoting the event but because it is such a niche market you are basically limited to the Mopar mags and sites like this to reach your target audience.
CC is already canvassing those options. Radio and TV ads are going to add only a small amount of people, most Mopar guts have it in their calender already. The rest are probably too far away for the weekend event.

When we ran with the NSCA they were all makes, as long as it was a door car. They did radio ads and didn't improve in attendence. Most of the racers brought their group and there were very few "walk ins". Ultimately gas prices put an end to my racing with them. We were taking 2-3 trucks and trailers and then a motorhome or travel trailer with another truck. We would spend $1000 in a weekend with a chance to win $250
Once people stop traveling it even hurts the local tracks attendence.

EVERYONE in the Columbus area has heard of the Mopar Nats. HUGE HUGE crowd at that show. Hardly anyone I spoke to even knew that there was "another" all Mopar show at National Trails. I just think the "general public" would come if they knew it was happening.

I did finally shower yesterday

No calls

It stinks that the Bowling Green event is gone. Last year the weather was rainy and cool. I guess Sunday it was fine. I ran the dually once. It rained way too much on Saturday.

I went for the Hotrod reunion too. I missed the Huntsville Mopar show to see that.

I thought the '06 and '07 shows were successes?

The people on Moparts, & people that buy the Mopar magazines already know about it.....Its the people that DON'T know that need to be reached.

I also ran a 1/2 page ad in the Columbus paper (368.00) on a Friday. BIG RESULTS

Another good place to advertise it is in Auto Trader (Muscle Car) and Auto round Up along with Hemmings, Racing Junk.com and similar publications and web sites. They are reasonably priced and are focused towards Gear Heads, not to mention they cover a large area.
Radio is insane and too narrow of an audience. Cable is cheap (depending where you are at) but it's too fragmented, Pittsburgh area alone has about 15-20 different Cable Markets, if you want to reach a large amount of people it would cost a fortune, even if he only did the Speed Channel.
Direct mail also works well he should make sure that every speed shop, engine builder, tranny builder and chassie builder around has flyers setting at there place of business. Flyers are cheap and these types of places usually are happy to set them out....NOT to mention it's a good way to build relationships with the owners and maybe get some sponsorship.

advertising is where the success is. Bater at norwalk use the tv, also radio stations, giving a few free passes away, which also brings spectaors.moparts has a lot of menbers from oh ,mi,ill,pa,ky,tenn,ny etc if ever member would pass out 25 cc event schedules in there state, or area, early in the year. at race tracks, car shows ,swap meets, or any auto event targeting the mopar family. lay them on the front like they do at the nats , i come back to my car and there is a half dozen flyers there . just suggestion thanks

I always like the idea of making a deal with Summit and Jegs to add flyers to their mail orders and have them stacked at the sales counters.

Alot of great suggestions. I really think that all of the racers know about the events but each event should also have some local to each event radio, newspaper or flyer type advertising . This will help to get some of the non everday day racers/street cars and hopefully a bunch of local spectators to come to want to see the cars and fill the stands and add more $$$

This is the type of thing I have been saying for a long time now, the local area event's need to be advertised for the local area people, it's the butt's in the grandstand's that bring in the money and spend their money on food, drink and in some cases part's or trinket's, a wise old man told me once that sometime's you have to spend a little money to make alot of money.

Light travels faster than the speed of sound,,,this is why some people seem bright untill you hear them speak.

I work at Summit Racing Equipment on the phones and I usually head downstairs everyday on my lunch break to check out the clearance racks in the retail store. When I was down there on Thursday there were some small flyers down there for one of the street car series NSCA, NMCA, idk but I know that they were down there. I could see us putting some flyers out if we are provided with them and that they are approved by someone in management.

Just curious, about how many people do they get at
Summit as walk in's per day?
The local advertising would help but it would help
more if it was open to all brands(I'm not a big fan
of the multi brand idea) but most Mopar guys do know
what events are around... since there's so few.
Also you never see any ad's in the Mopar mag's like
the MATS or NATS. Its very true... you have to spend
money to make money

can't take anything for granted. with the multible events happenings (cce, goodguys, super chevy) people tend to forget, have other plans made etc. heck, it might surprise you how many "hardcore" mopar guy i've told about "moparts.com" and get that "i've never heard about that site"! also most org. do this but i don't think preaching to the chior gets more attendees

Raff, I think you'ld be surprised at the # of people that walk in. Everytime I go there there seems to be a good crowd. Flyers on the pick up counter would be a great idea. Give someone something to read for the couple of minutes while their standing there doing nothing but waiting anyway. At least for a breif second you might have their undivided attention.

No calls

Don't forget the "kick off the season" swap meet at the Ohio Fairgrounds! That is actually a pretty good time and we look forward to it each year to help motivate through the winter doldrums. It doesn't appear that CC has the best business minded folks at the helm but I heard alot of people really like the Blankenships and I appreciate all the Mopar shows I can attend!
