Has been great. I did some changes yesterday. I removed the 625 AFB and replaced it with a dual feed 750 Holley 4160 along with a one inch spacer. I also replaced the factory distributor with a Jegs machined unit. From what I have read it is the same Mallory piece that Mopar Performance used to put out. The carburetor really woke the motor up!

I have 15" of vacuum at a rowdy 875 rpm idle (in neutral) and the motor revs right now. I drove it for the fist time earlier today and it is a beast. Instant power. No bogs, no lags, no stutters. Severe case of wheel hop, but I was expecting that from the beginning.

I am very pleased with how it has turned out. I am going to run it up to Wichita Dyno (http://www.wichitadyno.com/) next week and get the final tune done and have some real world HP numbers.

As far as I know there is only one whiplash cam for big blocks. I will check that now.

sweet! glad to hear good news. dyno tune results will be interesting to see.

there is a "B" engine whipash cam that is smaller specs

RB 440 whiplash cam is the big one with the WHIPLASH ROLLER CAM being the biggest cam of the 3 BB mopar whiplash cams.

The engine came out of a 1974 Coachman motorhome. Had steel crank with six pack rods, 213 heads. I rebuilt it basically stock, .030 over flat top cast pistons on LY rods, had the heads done. Only other real change from stock is the Performer intake.

It's been awhile since I last posted on about my truck so here it goes. I took it to the dyno back in late July. Motor ran great but we couldn't get any numbers. The TCI Breakaway torque converter was flashing to over 4000 rpm. It might be a good converter behind a small block I guess. There was also some rattling from the worn rockers I didn't care for so I brought the truck home, changed converters and ordered roller tip rockers and had pushrods made from Hughes. That's some nice stuff they have right there! Motor runs great and it is a whole different animal with the RV converter in it. Still have a bad case of wheel hop though.

That's going to dyno pic.

So last week I finally had a chance to get some new leaf springs installed to address the wheel hop. I called ATS Spring and ordered some 5 over 1 springs to replace the weak 3 over 1's on the truck. They are going to be firm but I don't think they are going to be too stiff. If so I will pop a leaf out. I can't wait to get the bed back on and drive it! I want to find a 3.23 gearset before the bed goes on just for easier installation. It does not need the 3.91's in it now.

what kind of timing curve and base setting did you work out?

I played with the firecore dist then pulled it out. I think the 2nd motherboard in it is going out again. idles fine but has a sputter every where but at idle.

the stock dist has the FBO limiter plate on 18* and initial at 18* with the blue med springs. not as hot with points but runs really well now. will be adding a pertronix points conversion set up in a few days.

I think I am getting 12-13 inches of vac in N with 9-10 in gear with 950 rpm. 12 mpg with it. stock LS 10 3/4 TC with 2.76 gears turning a 29x15x15 M/Ts LOL!

got 6000 miles on it now and it is a blast to drive. with 3" muffs /pipes it scares everyone when rolling up to the gas pump.

I can tell you for fact at 4500 rpm flat out on the HWY it is scary fast. but mostly I idle around 1000 rpm in 3rd rolling 30 mph in town.

what specs did the holley wind up with for jets/PV?

Did you ever end up taking it to the dyno with the new rockers and converter?

I took the new Jegs distributor out and put the stock one back in. It is a fine unit but I didn't like how much taller than the factory one is and it made things difficult up there with the fuel line and how I have the coil mounted. Initial timing is at 15* with just the factory timing curve and springs for now. The Holley is just straight out of the box for now too. Will play with all that when I get it up to the dyno again.

I would be thrilled to be able to pull 12 mpg! That's awesome. My vacuum is right about the same as yours now. 15-16" in N, 10-11" in gear. I dropped a couple of inches in gear with the converter change.

I haven't yet. As soon as I do I will report that. I kinda have a problem there now though. I sold my dually with all intentions of buying another truck but can't find anything I want. (I hate the truck market anymore but that is another story.) So now I have no way of trailering it up to Wichita. I will drive the truck there if I find 3.23 gears, not with the 3.91's though. Its about a 100 miles one way.
