Gentlemen,...without giving away too much here,...... a VON question.
Some codes: Y16
: VON 960214
: SPD 801
Heavily optioned car, fully loaded, almost every option.
Can we assume it's a promo/press/photo/magazine car?
Or is it just a "sale bank" car?
It's early SPD and VON are interesting.
It's a Plymouth.

Yep,...1969 Model ....
Do you mean with the 960 prefix,..sales bank=show car/press car?
I.E., A car ordered for the "bank of show/press cars"? And not ordered for the "standard" dealer sales bank?
there is a "recall wheel" lug nut in the trunk.
No broadcast sheet.

Sales Bank means it was ordered internally for future sale.... I have always heard it phrased that a sales bank vehicle was built without a dealership order. But that is admittedly splitting hairs.

If it was a show or press car seems like you could find some pictures of it from back int he day. That would confirm your thoughts and possibly even verify the recall wheels.
Careful, your character's showing!

Sales Bank means it was ordered internally for future sale.... I have always heard it phrased that a sales bank vehicle was built without a dealership order. But that is admittedly splitting hairs. "ordered internally" = no dealership involved, the order originated inside of Chrysler. Y14 would mean that someone put down a deposit at time of order, either a dealership buying their own lot stock or a client who ordered a car at a dealership. Cars can be both also, (Y14 & Y16) which happened when dealerships ordered cars for lot stock & placed a deposit as mentioned above.

Sales Bank means it was ordered internally for future sale.
The Show Car - Press Preview cars were typically handed over to a dealership to sell after its promotional use ended.
As far as I know, 96 is the prefix & after that just the rest of the VON.
Thanks Barry,.. I have operating under the assumption that cars built mid July and very early August 1969 SPD, that had a VON begging with 96 and under 300 were usually part of a test/parts fitment/quailty/promo/magazine etc. True?? Would a build sheet be the only way to confirm promo/etc,..status? I think I found promotional photos of the car,....but with out documentation it's hard to know 100% I know of one that was SPD 7/12,..and the VIN is 10000001, but that was a 1967.

I track 69 STL and 69 LR built cars plus have tags from all makes and models.
Most of the 96***** VON cars I have on file are Dodges. 960***, 962***, 964***, 965***, 966***, 967*** cars exist. The highest 96 VON I have seen is 9673**. The earliest 96 VON SPD I have seen is 714. The latest 96 VON SPD I have seen is 428.
I don't have this car on file and would love to add it if you wouldn't mind sharing.
Info updated 7/5/15
