Anyone use these with 572-13 heads & will it clear the stock coloum shift linkage , just about to order these & need to make sure.

I know i know , don't ask regards the 3 on tree , although TTI say a little fabrication might be needed to clear the linkage.

TIA

TTI say these headers fit Indy 440-1s , SRs & stage VI , how come they use the same part # for all there header gaskets? , even the 1 3/4 header has the same part #.

Is there a noticeable difference between the size of ex ports on a stage 6 compared to the 572-13s?

Don't wanna restrict the ex gases with these headers , or worse still they won't seal due to ports bein too big.

TIA.

I think theyare referring to the raised exhaust port location on those heads, compared to a stock iron head. The Stage VI port isn't raised as much, maybe half what the Indy heads are.

What concerns me is the size of the port opening in the gasket , how can the eddy/906 heads use the same gasket as the larger flowing heads.

I placed the old header gasket i had from the eddy heads up against the ex ports on the -13s , there waayyyy smaller , this gasket was from TTI when i bought the 1 7/8 headers a couple years ago , so i would think it's the same gasket that is supplied with the 2 /18th step headers , if so i think i got a problem , as the ports in the headers are gonna be a fair size smaller too.

You will need a gasket to work with your head exhaust port size/shape. I was referring to the height of the port and bolts on the 440-1, SR, and slightly less Stage VI heads.

the tti are a two inch pipe at the flange even if there the step headers

the gaskets for 906 stage 4 to 6 heads are the same

they can be ported to a max wedge exhast port

but these headers are small for a 440-1 heads

if there ported there even bigger

Is there enough room to take some off the header ports? , the previous set of TTi 1 7/8 were pretty tight to open up.

the 572-13 are big ports , I dont know ,the headers migth be too small for you

I have the cnc 440-1 345s at the machine shop and my proparts headers look small

Hey Ari,

I have the same 440-1 345cc heads on my low deck and am still trying to decide which headers to buy as the old ones i had are finished...

If you think the 2 1/8 TTI step headrs are too small, what are you going to run??

I have the proparts headers

the TTI step headers and proparts are both two inch pipes

theres not much of a choice , I would go custem headers but I dont have $2000 to spend now

I have to use what I have

if BOB MAZZOLINI gets the new proparts headers going we will have 2 1/8 headers soon

the TTI are two inch at the flange and then step up to 2 1/8 pipe

the 572-13 are big exhast ports and a two inch pipe migth be to small

do you think im wrong on this

It's the size of port in the heads that might be the problem , will they seal against the header flange due to the size? , & if this is the case they will be too small anyhows.

Anyone on here use them on these heads?.......think i better give TTI a call.

IIRC, Indy sells special header flanges for the 572-13 and 600-13 to use for building custom headers. That makes me think an off-the-shelf header like TTI's isn't going to match up well to such a large exhaust port as used on those particular heads.

602 I use those headers on my 572-13 heads. I do trim the gasket to match the flange so they are not an obstruction to the exhaust gasses.
Are they too small for those heads???
They might be but other than custom headers to fit(big bucks)my stock engine bay and chassis there are no other choices. They seem to work pretty well on our car but at 3680 lbs. a smaller diameter header may be a good idea!

That's good news motorMike , was just worried the header flange was gonna blow , you must have trimmed a lot off that gasket , was there any left?

Thanks.

602 I have used and trimmed various gaskets with them and have never had any problem with sealing yet! I do use some high temp RTV in the sealing area just for good measure.

We found we needed a 2 inch internal diameter "minimum" on these heads to clear the port, thats 2 1/8 pipe with 1/16 wall tube. 2 1/4 O/D worked well in our application (ported -13's and 572ci) but was still calculated as on the "small side"
I think the ideal was a 3 stepped header 2 1/4, 2 3/8 2 1/2 into a 4 1/2 collector. You'll be leaving something on the table with the TTi's cause of the 602 Ci and N2O, imho.
BTW Indy does an exhaust gasket for these heads around $20 each
http://www.indyheads.com/images/p_pge/price23.pdf
Port sizing is listed as 2.200 x 1.820.

Hey Tig , will blame it on the headers if it don't run the #s @ the Pod.

Spoke with the tech guy @ TTIs today , he seemed pretty shocked the gasket they supply is pretty much smaller than the ports , he said he supplys these headers on a regular basis for the 572 heads , although the 600 head is a different kettle of fish , he said to chamfer the header flange although there's not enough material to remove out the port.

This is a full bodied 68 charger , pretty tight under there with pas steering , ext oiling , brake servo.............those TTIs are a good fit in this type application.

Hi Tig, could you tell what lenth to go on each tube for the 572 starting with 2 1/4-2 3/8-2 1/2 and what lenth for collector for a dragster? I will have to stay with a upswept header.I am still using the 2 1/8 with 4" collector from the 440-1 heads. Thanks

If you've already got the headers, I'd use 'em. You can check for any overlap using the gasket as a template. In the past I've been able to grind a little off the flanges internally to help with the port/pipe transition. An experienced dyno operator once told me about picking up a surprising amount of HP in this area, so imho it's worth doing. Custom headers would obviously be the best but they are big buck's. I'm sure you'll be able to run the numbers (8's?)
