I was just thinking about uncapping my pipes next year and jet up a tad to see if my 63 likes it and goes any faster ? I really dont think it will pick up much as I run 3" pipes with Dyno-Max Ultra-Flows that dump at the rear. Just curious if any else has tried it with a setup close to mine. My 63 is a street car with a mild 440 that you can see a pic of the exh and the build at this link from the 62-65 website. Thanks for any replies. Ron

Thats what I kinda thought also. My sons Dart picks up some when he spacers the collector's and he runs Flow Master 40 muffler's. Ron

But I thought you were lazy like me. Taking the exhaust off requires effort, you know.

It would only be a one time deal. As yes I am lazy. But if it picked up enough that it's worth the effort then I would put cutouts in the exh system. Ron

Hi Ron! Happy New Year!! I also run a 3" exhaust with UltraFlows that dump at the axle. When I left the caps on the cutouts at the track,it only slowed it down .1! TOOOO quiet for me! Darn it! My Belltone battery just went dead! Take care brother! RandyB

really only one way to find out. if i did it, id put a collector extension on in place of the exhaust. my car picks up a fair bit but i only have 2.5 inch mufflers with 3 inch exhaust. at the track i put on a set of 3 inch race bullets that have a collector welded to them so they are basically a muffled collector extension. open exhaust to a true collector extensions was worth .15 for my 383. and true collector extensions to my race bullets was a wash.

dont forget youll also loose 50 plus pounds
