Question - would you do this type of project again?

Yes, but not cheaply!

Left lots of little things not done or unfinished waiting to get a better position to fab or weld. Now I've got it!

BTW, just for my own curiosity, I checked the door gap with a dial caliper before and after mounting on the rotisserie. Didn't change. Box rails and the LX floor structure is stout!

Nice Craig! I have been waiting for this post. Now I can go back over these pictures 10 times.. Nice work. I was anxious to see the undercarriage.

Been on this for the last week. Lots of finish welding not worth showing. Did get the wheel houses tied in. This was a ton of work. Way more than I thought it would be. Cut down and fit the splash shield. Just need to add a few tabs for push pins. This IS the little stuff that eats up so much time.

The tie ins and finish welds are what sucks up all the time.. GREAT job though. Looks like ALOT of fab and fitting for a wheel well...

What is the "relief" piece where the black panel meets the red wheel house. The part where you ground it shiney.. circular in shape and a little dished.

Also, On the 1/4 panel you have "roll lip". Is this for the tire clearance? I thought it looked to fit nicely or are you just getting rid of the sharp edge of the panel so it won't hit the tire sidewall?

When you decide to quit, THAT is the moment when you would've succeeded..

The black part is the Charger outer wheel house. The shiny part is closing a big hole that is in that piece. I need the factory outers to mount the purge canister in the stock location and wheel speed sensor wiring. The other pieces are just transition pieces to connect to the cut down RR outer wheel house.

Was going to roll the lip with 295's. Not necessary with 275's.

Craig. I have been meaning to ask this along the way and just saw a couple photos that show it pretty well. Is the stock width of the LX just slim enough to place the 2" X 4" structural steel rocker ties in between the two cars or did you have to trim the LX to fit them between. They look like they fit pretty well without trimming.

Yep, the LX is actually narrower than the RR. I used 2x5 square tube to tie the two together and "fill" the space in between. The LX floor supports are about 4-3/4" tall from the bottom of the pan to the top of the support, so 5" is what I needed. I didn't really show it, but once I cut open the rocker, I plug welded an 1/8" x 1" wide flat strip to the inside edge of each rocker, top and bottom. Once the 2X5 was welded to the rocker, it has another 1/8" angle welded from the 2x5 to the sill on the inside and on top. That's how you get over 50' of weld, each side!, for installing the box beam.

Thanks Craig I was wondering how it tied together. Thanks again and looking great.

Stock fuel filler is on the drivers side on a LX car. The fill and vent exit the tank on the left end, and with the tank under the backseat, running to the rear bumper didn't seem like the best solution.

Flush mount late model Challenger cap with a little Charger inspiration.

The gas cap looks awesome! Now with the gas cap it’s 51% Dodge and 49% Plymouth ;-)

Finished up the wire pass throughs and a bunch of little things to get ready for departure! Away she goes to media blast and epoxy powder coat.

Beautiful work. Would love to have a 68 charger built like that with a nice turbo hemi under the hood smile

Thanks again guys. It is kinda like a kid to me now, enjoying it being at summer camp, but also anxious to get it back and get it out of the house for good!
