Hey guys, my 69 D100 shorty has massive wheel hop, now remember I have yanked leaves from the springs to lower it a little and the axle on these trucks sits under the leaf. Have any of you found a traction/ladder bar set up that will help with this spring wrap up and is not a whole fabrication job? Any advice or cures would be great....

I have my 88 440 truck lowered & tubed axle on top of spring with no wheel hop. with the axle under spring it had wheel hop very bad.

on my stepside with NV4500 5 speed, I made some traction bars that went from plate on top of spring under u-bolts to the front spring hanger.

I drilled a hole in the front spring mount, then weld a bolt on a tube/rod for a bayonet style hook up with some shock rubber/washers.

did this on my 4x4 also, tucks the traction bars up out of the way on a axle under spring chassis.

I also flip the shackle and flopped the axle on top of the spring.

used an A-body 8 3/4 to tuck 12 rims in the fenders = do the same on the 69 truck.

then used a set of A-body SSM liftbars. they replace the lower shock plate with a square plate welded to a traction bar that clamps to the front segment of the springs, use shims to pre-load axle for launch/hook up.

I removed a leaf or 2 from a set of truck springs for them, they lift the back of the truck 3-4 inches and really plant the tires..you need to dial in the shocks so the don't bottom/extend out.

Hey Wyle E, nice video, thanks for the link..... Hey Scratchn, check these out, think I'm gonna give them a try, (Tuff Country #30695) traction bars....Look a lot like what you built, can get the kit for $130.00, sounds reasonable to me.....

Here is how it was done from the factory. The part came from an Imperial.

I have a wheel hop issue with my truck and have been thinking about making something like traction bars.
