It's been about 7-8 months now and thought you guys who may be considering this method would like to see how it's holding up. The truck sits outside all of the time in the Texas sun, and rain. Has been in a couple of hail storms, and has only ever had the one coat of "Nu Finish", the liquid version, right after I finished the paint. So today I washed it and gave it another coat of Nu Finish. Here's the results. I'm a fan of the Nu Finish.

Thanks. When I take it out for a spin and people compliment the truck, I get a little extra satisfaction out of the fact that I painted it myself.

I am sure up close one could find fault but for a 20 footer it looks great. For a low budget job you did great. up up up

Oh yeah, it has plenty of flaws. Especially from this first time attempt at bodywork and paint. But it's a good 15-20 footer. For a beater that I can drive anywhere and not stress rock chips, runaway shopping carts and door dings. I'm happy.

My registration finally came in for it yesterday so I can drive it now.

Just wanted to show how the paint is holding up to anyone considering this method for a cheap beater, low budget project like mine, first car for a teenager, etc...

looks like it's holding up pretty well. too bad you can't add a canopy, or carport over the driveway, just to help keep it cool, and safe from hail. did you post up some burnout pics yet? devil

I had a few beaters I did this to back before this type of paint job was the thing to do.....

The paint job always outlasted the car. Always. smirk

Looks real good Roe. thumbs Now, about those rims....... sick

work this is what I wanted, but they were too hard to find. 4 20" steelies. JY's didn't have them and all online places were out of stock. So I ended getting these on a deal at the j/y.

You did a fantastic job on the truck, Roe! Don't let anyone try to steer you into something else, use the wheels you have! I am a HUGE fan of using swap-meet bargains when come along, even if they aren't my first choice. True hot rodding right there! Use what you have/find!

Truck looks great, you should feel very accomplished! smile

Thanks a lot. And I'm definitely a use what you can get kind of guy. The overwhelming majority of the parts and pieces I've put on here were junkyard finds. He's just giving me a little good natured ribbing.

Thanks. I'm sold on this method and paint. For me the key was going to be how well it held up. And it's holding up well, which is what I wanted to show with the update.
