Anybody know what the current Mopar Pro Stock Hemi heads are based on? Are they real Hemi's, or some sort of Chevy based head.

The are basically similar to a DRCE 3 with a twisted chamber and relocated spark plug. I ran one for a few years, lots of power, lots of money, lots of not so good parts out there, and lots of RPM.

All three marques of engine in Pro Stock (Ford Dodge & GM) would all be very similar in design, it's just what makes power. The Hemi 99 & 06 stuff are referred to as being Hemi's more for marketing than anything.

I was just curious, it looks more like a Chevy than anything else.

This engine is now in a really nice drag car in Illinois now! She was good to us and hopefully extra good to him!

More Ball Stud HEMI than anything, still cool though. Al, did you use a 99 block or an aftermarket one? Are they open deck?

Doesn't look like any Chevy I've ever seen.

It looks like a dedicated Pro Stock engine, just like the current engines "called" Chevy and Ford.

Mine is an was a Mopar Pro Stock block, MP part number and all. It was a 9 cam bearing skirted block. It was run in Pro Stock by Jeg Coughlin.

Hate ta say this but I just did a 348-409 Chevy stroker for a customer and the valve layout is the same. And the engine is a 1959. Chamber and plug location is different. Thought it was kinda funny!

Hey Chuck at Best, is that a flow splitter on the bottom side of your ports?

Is that a common use on these types of heads?
Is it to smooth the flow around the valve stem or induce some turbulance as it enters the chamber?

I've often thought some sort of ramp at the end of the floor could maybe
induce a beneficial swirl and speed up the flow around the valve.

Thanks for the input, Joe

Isn't technology great - if you can afford it. Everything funneled in to 1!

That is a picture of one of the set of heads I got from Larry Morgan. I have never heard it called that before, Larry does not give me answers for everything, Top Secret Stuff LOL. All three sets I have from him have something on the floor like that.
