fbs63 top fuel F Joined: Nov 2003 Posts: 1,837 NW Indiana	Hate ta say this but I just did a 348-409 Chevy stroker for a customer and the valve layout is the same. And the engine is a 1959. Chamber and plug location is different. Thought it was kinda funny!

Is it to smooth the flow around the valve stem or induce some turbulance as it enters the chamber? I've often thought some sort of ramp at the end of the floor could maybe induce a beneficial swirl and speed up the flow around the valve.
