I had a guy at work today ask me if I wanted one. Is there a demand for them? It came out of a 3/4 ton non dually 4x4 1977 truck. I would think it would be a posi since it is in a truck. Is it worth having?

Its the same thing as the car dana, Just has ends on the housing for full floating axles.

Thats whats in my car a truck 60

We just cut the ends off and put the car ends on the housing with some new perches and your in there for cheap.

that's what I am currantly putting in my car, it's one out of a 1979 ford 3/4 ton, they also have heavier tube walls, mine measure 3/8 thick walls, so yes it is worth getting.

This is a 3/4 ton dana out of a late 70's dodge truck, we built for my cuda. It doesn't have to be in a 4x4.

Most don't but some do (including 3/4 and 1 ton vans). I ran across a 1 ton van at the u-pull-it with a SureGrip and 4.10 ratio. Messed around and it got away. I have one from an '84 3/4 ton 2wd pu to cut down and put either in my sons Charger or my future project (whatever that may be ). The only drawback is the truck housings have no provisions for a snubber.

the guy claims it to be a posi and I would think that it is since it is in a 4x4.

I have seen more 4X2's with posi/sure grip than 4X4's..

many people ordering 2X4s got grips to compensate and people ordering 4X4s thought they didn't need them.

The Dana 70 was mentioned, What's the difference between the 60 and 70? Is there a part number and\or casting number to look for? I have a 1-ton 2wd. I'd like to have one for a "spare"

It will have a 60 or a 70 cast on the center section.

Its bigger, it has a 10.54-inch ring gear diameter versus the 60's 9.75".

here's a quick ID page:

Here's a complete listing to Dana codes:

Funny you brought this up. This afternoon I was at a JY and saw an old dodge camper special. It had a data plate on the drivers door sill. It said, rear axle:41, Make: Spicer, Model: 60
I was wondering the same thing.
