Looking for rods for 383. Did not know until today the rods in B engines were shorter than the RB stuff. Know how to get bushed rods for those engines but want some for a 383. I am attempting to build a high MPG 383 for my dads all original 69 Fury convertable. I can make a lot of changes internally but do not want to change appearance of engine.

Also, is it necessary to cut the seats out and replace with hardened seats? This is a limited use auto but see's a couple hundred miles each way to Carlile, PA every year.

You can buy aftermarket rods or just bush the original ones. Mopar Performance used to sell rod bushings. If they don't have them anymore then I'm sure you can get them from Trend or someone like that.

Who makes aftermarket 383 rods?

I realize you can bush the stock rods we have.

Here is the deal many times you replace the bolts, resize and bush a set of rods to find out you could have bought a set off the shelf new for less money.

Don't want to run into this so I am looking for a new set if available.

Leon

I agree, I've looked for aftermarket 383 rods and didn't think they existed.
I thought maybe someone knew of some.

I run unbushed floaters in my SB and my buddy runs unbushed floaters in his 440. Also run these in the dirt cars and have for years. clearanced right you will have no more problems than with bushed ones and there is more steel around the pin than on a bushed rod.

Bought a set from Brandon 3 seasons ago, for my engine, and they checked fine and are still going strong, replaced a stock bushed rod, with them, for the price, you can't recondition, bush, and put in new bolts, just my

Can you tell I am looking for some too

Have been for a little while. Just can't seem to pull the trigger when I have a running 383 and 400 that I can use. But this set of KB pistons for a 383 next to my computer have got me wanting to screw together another one with floating pins.

That 383 Eagle rod won't fit into the KB piston unless you either narrow the small end of the rod or make room in the piston. Too wide for the piston pin bosses.

The Eagle rod is a bit heavy at over 840 grams...fine for street and most race applications. Heavier than the stock rod.

440 source no longer offers the 383 rod although someone might have a set on the shelf.

I have looked and called..and have found no one, other than Eagle, offering aftermarket 383 rods (off the shelf).

Manley, Lunati, and a few others will make a custom set for about $1500. Cunningham rods cost a little more.

I have a new set of Eagle rods that have been narrowed enough to fit in the kb 383 pistons. I also have a new set of KB 383-30 flat top pistons. Both are priced to sell.

Rods will need a little bit of finish work to bring them all into balance. email if interested.

Oh, I almost forgot...the Eagle rod is too narrow on the big end to get the rod side clearance within factory specs without crank mods.

If you're OK with extra rod side clearance then the Eagle rods are for you.

The Eagles don't come with the oil squirt hole like the factory rod...that may explain the narrow design...or it could be that they simply used a casting from the BBC rod....hell if I know.
