Scott, I ended up buying an Optima red top when NAPA had that killer Super Bowl sale in 2014. When I was shopping for a battery I went up to the battery place up on Empire. They have one similar to Optima in design but a bit less expensive and they swear by them. Can't remember the brand but they'll know. I was a little skeptical about Optima with what I've read here, but from what the NAPA guys told me, they have their issues sorted out. I'll tell you how I like mine after my engine start, which by the way was thinking of inviting you to...

I’m listening.

Get a Deka ETX30L. Plenty of power and should fit in your battery case. Looks like the terminals should bolt up perfectly. And made in America too!

I bought it from a member here who gave me a super deal on it..Thank You..
Don't want to hijack this post, just a quick question..

A boat, a GMC truck, some Craftsman Tools, LOTS of Zombie Protection, and a few Goldfish..

If you love someone set them free..
If they come back it means nobody else wanted them either..!!

Don't confuse a battery mat (that a battery sits on) with and AGM (absorbed glass mat) battery. Two very different things. Yours is a traditional flooded battery. Not that there is anything wrong with that!

Purchased a pair of lead acid group 27's from a fellow in our Chrysler 300 club for my 300B in 1992. This man had been in the battery business and somehow had come up with a couple hundred battery cases which matched the design and logos of the original old Chrysler Corp batteries. He used them to build genuine lead acid batteries and sold them to club members. Wish I had bought 5 of them.

The last one I replaced this past summer when it finally began to give up the ghost, with a battery from Antique Battery. It is an AGM battery.

Don't expect it to last near as long as the average time each of those lead acids lasted,,,about 11 years each.

I know they were hit or miss but my red top opitima has given me around 7 years and is still going strong but I don`t think it would fit inside the old battery case.

Ok, I've done some homework and listened to you guys, looks like some good options in one of the Optima/Odyssey style batteries. I may go that way but I'd also like to save more weight.

What are the best choices in the super lightweight batteries I've been hearing about? I know they are big $ but they sure sound cool!
