Who has the best prices on wheelie bar kits. It is becoming apparent I need to go to a longer bar. I am needing 65-70" in length. SO who has the best bang for the buck kit available?

Al, kit's are $450-600 and you have to fit and finish them. I custom made mine from scracth. I bought the CM tubing and threaded ends from "The Chassis Shop", turned the clevis' on a cnc lathe, fabbed up the wheel boxes, and added a couple large head fixture pins. I fitted, fabbed, and tacked it together in the garage and took it to HemiAl_588 to TIG it all up. I think I have under $200 in them. Yes I know the powder coat came out wrong.

Well I have some wheel boxes already from RJ, guess I might just sneak a few peaks at what others have and we can make them. The ones I have now are the S&W spring deals and they are WAY short.

Wish my heap would leave like that all the time. Seems I am in a three foot higher mode again...

you'll get there. You need to find what the car wants for the IC location then use the wheelie bars to slightly control and help steer it on launch. I will see what I have in pics when I was making them and email them to you. One of the reasons I decided to make my own is the upper mount is between the tire and spring so I had to bend the upper bar around the shock. I also added a cross bar between the wheel houses as I have see others wobble behind the X.

didn't find many pics but I emailed them to you.

Just to bring anyone who cares up to speed. The car has had all the heims replaced this past week and will be getting scaled again this Wednesday. My son found there was a good deal of preload on the upper left bar so that might account for the readings we had before. Also found a good deal of preload in the anti roll bar. So someone has been not keeping track of what they have been doing Hopefully Dad will survive this learning curve

Al, just a quick note, traditionally the upper left (driver side) is used to set pinion angle (oh no not that word ) on a fourlink.

sounds like over time multiple adjusts have been made and now it's fighting itself. Not only should it be better when you are done you are learning it first hand yourself.

Rookie

Make notes on the extra pages in your log book to keep track of all your change so you have a history off all the adjustments and results.

Al, you said you had some RJ wheelhouses, I was going to suggest RJ. I have used quite a few of his kits. They come with the wheelhouse already welded up and installed on the tubing. Very nice kit for the money. It was much cheaper than I could buy the tubing, wheelhouses and other parts to build a set.

The issue is we do keep records, well at least one of us does The other one not so much. It is a learning curve for sure.

Hey no problem buddy. Not really extra work it is all good fun, just hope the boy speeds up the learning curve. I have pretty much turned over all of the work on the car to him at this point .I think the light is starting to glow a little brighter lately. Just need to make sure I have the car working ok before we slow her down

That is great, Al. I take it he has grown out of the VW stage? Or was it a Ricer? Very, very cool that you guys can enjoy this stuff together. That is what it is all about.

P.S. Off topic, but, Shanarat fired? Huh? I can't stand him, but, he is one of the top five coaches in the league??

I am sure you were thrilled over the game Sunday night...I think it is probably time for a change in Denver. I think the deal had run it's course. The guy is an offensive genius but ya kinda need to play defense sometimes too.

Oh yeah the boy is a ricer...And an OSAC(old school air cooled)fan as he has a Beetle and a Honda Civic that are both modified but he loves the race car stuff whether it is the Camaro or Cuda.

I was actually very bummed to see the Bolts win. Can't stand em. Rivers makes me

If you need any advice on any of the wheelie bar info, give Phil a call at PMR. (909)621-5531. Tell him that I told you to call, he will take care of you.

Happy New Year!
