Helping a friend swap a trans on a '92 1/2 ton 4x4. If we top off the oil in the transfer case does it take ATF+4 for that year?

The short answer is likely Yes. Which engine?

Ideally, you look it up from the Owner's Manual or Factory Service Manual.

FSM says the NP241 takes Dexron, and the NP205 takes GL-5.
