That all depends on if your engine has MDS or not. I don't recall the 2500/3500 trucks being equipped with it though. Either style engine can be changed over but will require removing the intake manifold and cylinder heads to swap lifters and MDS solenoids. EGR valve or not also makes a difference. 03-08 5.7 long blocks are the same otherwise.

if u are looking to buy the truck, don't waste any $ putting a hemi back in a 1 ton truck, put a cummins in it and be done with it

03-08 non mds

2500-3500 are all non mds, I beleive only cars had mds till at least 05 and probably till 08 so durangos and 1/2 tons should work also, there is some differences in elecrtonics over those years but all is swapable. All 03-08 hemis I have worked on have egr.

A cummins swap is VERY expensive, if you just have to have a cummins buy a cummins truck. You will need engine, trans, computer, springs, exhaust, harness, the computer will need to swap all the trucks computers and dash, inter cooler... basically a donor truck.

The guy that owns it said the junk yard told him the serial number had to have a d in it .Maybe he meant mds ?
