Hey gang...
Until my recent situation with coolant leaks, I never gave it any thought. What is the coolant/head bolt relationship and is the left and right banks of the block connected?

1. Are the head bolt threads tapped into an open hole, ie. the water jackets

2. I drained the passenger side water jackets on the block and a lot of coolant came out. I removed the driver's side plug and nothing did. So, are the two banks connected?

Cheers..
T

None of the head bolts, water pump bolts or timing cover bolts in the above blocks should go into the coolant passages, none If they do it is because of defects. As far as the coolant passages on those blocks there is a right and left side not connected except through the water pump On your deal you need to take a small thin screwdrivers or punch and unplug the drain hole on that side Don't have your head or face under it when you do IHTHs Most Mopar SB have one or two timing cover bolts go into the coolant passages on the front drivers side, I think

The drivers side is probably plugged up above the drain plug, with the drain plug out prove with a skinny screwdriver and stand back.
