I need advice on kit to replace ball joints on three different trucks. Will need to be used on 02 ram 1500 2wd, my 03 1500 4wd and a 2005 2500 2wd cummins. We are going to help each other on these trucks starting with the 02 2wd. Thanks.

I used this one from Harbor Freight.

I was able to do almost everything on my '01 Ram with just the "C" clamp provided and the rest I had to use some of the dies.

I've found a few other uses for this kit as well, so it was a good investment.

On the 1500's the lower ball joint is staked into the arm also. So add a big flat cold chisel and hand sledge to the list to cut/unfold the stake if you do not have them already. Not a huge fan of Moog (very overrated IMO) but they do offer the ball joint that you press in and secure with a heavy snap ring if your not comfortable attempting to re-stake the replacements. I didn't feel up to the task of re-staking the replacement part without risking damage to the new part and/or not getting the staking done tight enough without a massive press to mushroom the lip over tightly and evenly if that makes sense. 25/3500 uses a snap ring design already according to the moog directions.

My local HF didn't have that one in stock, but had one with a large assortment of cups without the c clamp for 119.

Well that's handy, huh?

You'll need a 5/8ths shallow and a long flex handle to work that clamp when you do find it. An impact works better if you can get it into your work area.

You can also get it free from Advanced Az etc.Just pay a deposit use it then return and you get deposit back.If you dont have a good breaker bar or long ratchet and big arms better have a good Impact.I do mine at home and work with impact. Rocky
