The brake light on the dash of our 2011 Durango keeps coming on. This is just the red BRAKE light, not the ABS. What would be causing this?

low fluid, excess wear in pads/rotors, malfunctioning abs system, proportioning valve hanging up. check the codes, using the plug under the steering column.

2011 had several recalls, for brake issues, on durangos.

you need a brake scanning tool, sort of like an obd-1 or obd-2. amazon has the tool, and i've seen them available as a vehicle specific program (app) for smartphones and itunes users.

Typically the red light wont set a code.The yellow ABS will.The red indicates low fluid brakes out of adjustment or real low pads etc.If the fluid is low enough to turn on the light it probally needs brakes.Most parts store readers can read an ABS code if they have a decent one.Rocky

There is only one recall involving the brake system. That is the P-14 recall. It involves testing the booster for leaks and corrosion and installing a foam shield around the booster or replacing it if it failed the leak test.
The brake warning lamp can be caused by this. so if your vehicle is part of the recall it will be repaired free of charge.

I forgot one other thing the park brake.I had one that just barely moved the switch and it would let the light come on.Rocky
