 I use crankshaft scrapers in any motor that will be RPM above 5000 RPM, street, strip or hauler  A good, one way screen helps also, especially in the front of most pans(where they are shallow to clear the K members) so the oil won't bounce back up into the rotating assembly

Been told by the gurus for a long time, going back as far as McCandless, to not bother using one on a small block.
