'74 Power Wagon W200, I bought the Chrome Trim Tail Light surrounds. Was wondering what type of screw is used to mount?

Are they simple sheet metal screws, sort of like wood screws, or are these mounted with machine screws that tap into nuts mounted behind the sheet metal or something else?

They should be just sheet metal screws.

I want to say they were #12 X 3/4" oval-head sheet metal screws. Get stainless ones as clear zinc will look like rubbish pretty quickly (at least around here).

You're over-thinking, dude. Ma was too cheap to use captured nuts. They're just fancy sheetmetal screws.

Thank You for the replies. Good to know.

Thought that sheet metal screws might have been inadequate or that they would rust out or loosen over time, but as suggested, overthinking it a bit. Also just wondered what was "correct" and "factory standard" in this instance. Not like it would ever be in a car show and needed to be correct, but it's nice to have it that way when it's not too much trouble.

The bed on the truck is not "original" and there are no holes so guessing it was off a "Custom" and not an "Adventurer". In any event, the Trim gives the Taillights a more refined and "finished" look.

Thanks Again
