Dunno who Mr Cab is, but I'll give it a stab. On a small block you can install a copper tube in the pass side oil galley. The galley has to be opened up with a drill and the threads re-cut for any screw in plugs. A rounded over lifter is driven thru the lifter bores, peening them in so the lifter will fit. Then the passages from the galley to the oil pump and to the crank are opened thru the copper tube with long drills.
Find a copy of an MP Engines modification manual. They describe how to do this in that book.
Can this mod be done on a big block?

BB or Sb would be the first question as they have different approaches. As stated above that is a solution for a SB. For a BB contact member ou812, he sells a roller for a BB that will solve the problem.

Or, you pull the cam and have it re-ground on a
smaller base circle, that will lower the lifter

When you say almost have you tried installing all of them and adding oil and then prime the motor? If not try that and also rotate the motor over two or more ecomplete revolutions, if the oil pressure doesn't drop while rotating it over and it has 60+lbs or more your good to go. If it drops and recovers while rotating you need to fix it. There are several different brands of lifters that have the skirt around the rollere wheel extended on the oil galley side, which will fix that problem. Contact Brain, OU812 and ask him if his will do that also
