I've been doing a few things to the old Dodge. Getting closer to a paint date (?). This go around I got tired of the hole in my cab for filling the tank behind the seat. So I filled it. Also, I really didn't like the way Dodge did their filler necks on the side of the bed. So I found a wrecked '08 truck, cut out the fuel filler area, and grafted it into my bed. Fitment was a bit tight, but it worked.
Here's a few pics.

Now for the shameless plug for Wions body shop on La Grand Ave in Sacramento. Jimmy (the owner, and good friend) did the body work on this project. I'm very happy with his work. He's been doing body work sense he was a teen.
Thanks Jimmy!

looks great. personally I wish mine had the tank in the cab, would make dual exhaust easier.

Right until it starts leaking or you tip it over...I'd be oh so happy to get my '64Dog's tank out of the cab.

Why is dual exhaust easier with the internal tank? Is the cab slightly longer or something to give just a little extra room? I am just about to do exhaust. I just started my motor on Saturday and only have straight headers at this point. It is a Utiline step side pick up and I am going to do dual exhaust, straight out the back. I have the internal tank. I don't physically have it in the truck, but I have the tank and the provision to install it if I wanted. I don't mean to steal this guys thread. PM me if you would like or I can start another thread.

Very nice work on the fabrications, BTW. Is there another string with more pictures or can you post some more. I would love to see a little more of your truck.

Swap in a Ramcharger tank. (but then you loose the spare tire mount).

Makes duals a snap, and puts weight where you need it.

To the OP, the fuel door looks great!

I'll post some more when I get home today (if I don't work to much over time!).

The reason why the tank in the cab makes it easier is because it frees up real estate under the truck bed, where the exhaust pipes would like to go.

The reason gas tanks are no longer in pickup cabs is the awful scenario where you roll the truck and there's up to 22 gallons of gasoline right there in the cab with you. Plus I had a tank develop a crack on a trip and it's not nice to have gas dripping onto the floor and puddling near your feet. Plus even with the windows open at speed it is still gassy enough to make you puke.

My 77ford has two tanks, one under the drivers side and one in the back. For an exhaust for its 400 I am considering coming out of the headers crossing over to the passenger side and running one 3 1/2" pipe out the back.

Here are more pics. Mind you, the truck still needs to have some body work done, and painted. But it's getting there.
But when it's done, I'm still hauling wood with it!

This is the slider I put in.

Here's my semi-dual exhaust.

Yep, here in the confused state of Kalif. it's the only way I could go with a '76! But it sounds damn good, and flows nice. I just got to figure a way to put some headers on it. Everyone that hears it, swears it's a big block.

That is a really clean looking truck. I took some screen shots of the exhaust. That is exactly what I was think for the routing. How did you come out of the back? I plan on using an extra set of gun barrel tips from my '72 Charger. Kind of like the current Hemi trucks without impressions in the bumper. Kind of spread them out so I can still get the spare in and out. I was thinking that as soon as they go over the axle, they both make turns towards the outside of the truck and then follow the frame to the rear. I will see when I get the truck on the lift with my exhaust guy.

As soon as the pipes go over the rear end they both turn to the pass side, just past the tire (I can't do what you suggested, cause of the receiver hitch, and spare tire), and two chrome tips. I wasn't sold at first, but after a time I liked it.

What I like is that the gas door looks as if Dodge made it that way. Extra points for keeping it all Dodge!
