Cast MP crank, internally balanced, scat h beams, ross pistons, cometic gaskets, 11:1 comp, first set of ported eddies from Hughes, then cleaned up by Ryan with big valves, msd digital E curve, pro magnum rockers, custom hydraulic roller from Scott Brown, perf RPM intake, 770 carb. 'm not a drag racer, but this makes 475-485 hp all day long.

Mine is in the works, but here it is. Pump gas Diamond 10.7:1, K1 crank, Childs and alberts steel track master rods, B1BA heads, bottom end hughes girdle, Hydro roller cam with 558 lift, 304 duration cam. Hopefully it will run ok as a street thumper. Dram is providing the crank, and pistons.

It should run ok!

sounds great, are you affraid of running that HP close to 500 with a cast crank?

My motor is not together yet but heres what I have. It will be a 11.0-1 pump gas 408 with K-1 4" steel crank, Comp Star 6.125" H beam rods, Diamond dish pistons, Hughes flat solid 260/264 @ .050 with .626/.633 lift cam and EDM lifters, Milodon pan, cloyes true roller timing set, Perfect Circle high volume oil pump. I'm going to have around +/-$3000 in the short block counting the machine work. A member here gave a smokin' deal on the pan, pick up and timing set, all new. The top end will come off my 340 with the exception of the intake. I got a Victor 340 off the bag for $70 shipped. It will go on my Curtis Boggs ported Edelbrock heads with Hughes 1.6 roller rockers. I also bought new Hedman 1 7/8" headers to replace my TTIs, they'll be in the $1000 range counting the coatings. To me this not a cheap motor, but I'm not wealthy by any means, this is what I work overtime for. If I had stroked my 340 to begin with it would've only cost around $1000 more when I built it, oh well now I'll have a spare short block. I'm hoping from around 525 hp out of the new motor .

This has been together for 5+ years already. The crank I got from my local dealer was a nicely made piece, not sure who's it was as it was real new at the time. I routinely bounce this thing off the rev limiter, (6250), so who knows....I don't even have a real pressure gage anymore, just a 15lb Autometer sender working the orig light on the dash. I don't have a tach anymore either, just the 6K A&A governer weight in the trans, works like a charm with the factory kickdown linkage. Just point and shoot.

Forged K1 crank and H beam rods, custom forged Diamond pistons, Hughes ported Eddies, Super Victor single plane intake, hydraulic roller lifters and rockers, MSD distributer and 6AL box, Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump and regulator, D1-SC ProCharger, blow through Holley 750 and this cam from Hughes

Dyno'ed at 650 on Southland performances engine dyno but it wanted to detonate so we bumped the timing down and settled at 589 or something. I got the sheets around here somewhere. I remember the water injection wasn't working right and it might have been alright like it was but I wanted it to work if the water injection failed on the road and I didn't have it. It comes on now at 4 lbs. and is working.
It doesnt feel like it lost alot after I got it in the car and hooked up the water pump and alternator.
The trans was beefed up at MMR to handle more torque than out of the box but I'm still shy about it.

I aint telling what I got in it. Honestly, I lost track after 15K.

that sounds like a great street car ya got there, mine will hit the track maybe 3 times or so a month, so im a little affraid going with the cast crank, right now i spin my 360 to 6400 and thats it

My old car, a 70 dart, with my uncles pump gas motor. 408ci. Stock indy edelbrocks, 10.3 comp, cast crank, 557mp cam, air gap intake, 750dp, tti headers. It weighed 3200 without me in it. Not sure about hp, it went 10.79@122.80 best and low 10.80s consistently. It is now in his duster street car with a 4speed and he drives it everywhere.

i just got my 416 running so i dont really know horsepower but it seems to run strong , it is a 30 over 340 block with k-1 4 inch steel crank, k-1 rods , diamond dished pistons , comes in at 10.1 compression (thanks dram) the camshaft came from brian ou812 on the board . it is a 252 intake 260 exhaust at .050 ,with something like 597 intake lift and 614 exhaust, solid flat tap. the cylinder heads are from shady dell 360-1 stage one port job they are over kill on it, but i thought later i might grow into them. i would guess that i have some where around 3 grand in the short block.

heres some pics

t and d rockers

My car is envious of Pete's car.. Up until just recently.. him and I had an almost identical motor, except he has now tamed his down a tad with hydraulic rollers.. (which I might do also)

Anyways... here is my build

4" cast stroker crank
HV oil pump
Kevko 6 qt pan with windage tray
Callie main and rod bearings with that friction reducing stuff..
KB forged step pistons 22.5 CC
Scat H-beams
Eddy heads ported by Ryan.. also shaved to obtain a chamber volume of 57cc.. which makes compression ratio 10.9:1
Ryan flow tested the heads at 293/int and 230/exhaust

Custom Ground Comp Cam 256/262 @ .050" Duration
108 LSA
.635"/.632" With Crane gold 1.5 roller rockers
Comp roller lifters
MSD billet dist.
MSD 6A ignition box
Super Victor port matched (the intake was also cut to line up with the shaved Eddys)
Bigs Holley 750

The car weighs in at 3180 + driver and has gone as fast as 11.4 @ 116

Well, when my brothers engine had bone stock unported Edelbrock heads and a old school Mopar .557 mechanical cam it made 513 horsepower on a DTS dyno with pump gas and 1 3/4 headers. It was only 394" using a 3.79" stroke crank. We also used a Mopar single plane M1 manifold. Our carb was pretty trick though. It made more power than ANY of the trick carbs that our Dyno shop had on tap. They were pretty amazed. We have PC Carbs in Ontario California do our carbs.

PC Carb built my blow through Holley. They did a wonderful job. Right out of the box it needed no tuning on or anything. Went right on the engine on the dyno. The shop said they were really impressed with it too.

Mine wasn't cheap, but it's a pump gas setup

425ci (4.060x4.10)
R3 block (non-siamese)
W5 heads (320in/220ex)
262/270 .602/.585 108 hyd roller
1.5in/1.65ex T&Ds
Indy 360-3R intake (EFI'd)
11.2:1 cr
CSR electric wp
Custom 7qt oilpan

Built by RyanJ, it dyno'd 565hp 525tq with a carb and 1 7/8" headers. Now it's EFI'd with 1 7/8"-2" custom stainless headers, 3.5" collectors w/ 3.5" dynomax ultraflo's. It's taking me forever to get it finished, hoping to have it running and tuned on a chassis dyno here in the next month or two.

Shooting for low 11's n/a, and 9's on the bottle, 3900lbs race weight.

Hey Dan. I just finished a 408 for my Aspen and what i have is a '73 360 block .030 over and i purchased a Scat Kit with forged crank, forged I beam rods, forged KB744 pistons, and the kit came with clevite bearings and sealed power rings for $1900.00 plus tax.I did some home porting clean up on my Eddys and running a crane cam 258/268 dur.@ .050 560/580 lift.Crane rockers and my air gap with 750hp carb, and i installed a Milodon oil pan and pick up.I'll most likely have to change my headers as i still have TTI step ups but i'll see how it runs first.
