Anyone driven one of these machines with real winter tires on it? These trucks are decently priced in my area, 4 doors for the family, and nicely optioned..

With a set of 17's and some skinny tires it should be fine. Local classifieds are usually full of wheels at reasonable prices.

Depends on who's driving it too. Mega-torque and icy road needs the right person behind the wheel.

Because they're gas hogs.....drive no different then any other truck....just depends on how you treat the loud peddle

I have read the auto transmission shifting is really clunky and aggressive, which could make driving on ice sketchy. I drove one these things on a test drive around 7 years ago, but I can't recall how it was for shifting and throttle response. Is it drive by wire? My SRT8 jeep is drive by wire, and its borderline to aggressive for winter driving the way its non linear in its programming.

I have driven a friend of mine's and it drove no different than my 04 5.7.....and with the 150 shot in my 04....he didn't stand a chance....that really bothered him

I know this isn't apples to apples but the mrs drove her 300C SRT8 in the snow (non salt state here) and had no problem. Respect it and you will be fine. Obviously if you try to drive slowly up an icy hill you might have problems.

Good luck finding a snow tire in a 22 inch. Smaller wheels might be an issue with the massive front rotors and calipers.

Put a set of normal 20's on it, plenty of winter tires for them. 500 or so lbs in the box does wonders for a 2wd as well in the snow

Agreed. An engineer at a factory I worked had a set of rims with winter tires for his Viper. Albeit it was a line drawn in the sand about what he spent and NO you're not buying a winter beater.
