I do not know if anybody else is aware of this but here goes, I have a 69 Valiant with a slant six k member and I am in the process of building a 340 for it, anyway I was messing around in the shop and I took a 340 block and associated brackets and started mocking the block up.
This is what I found, using the correct drivers side mount(340 block 340 bracket) and on the passenger side I used a van or truck mount and it dropped right in, now this was only the block, my next step is an engine and trans.
I have some pics but they are not great.

im not an a body guy but try mocking it up complete with a d shaft you may find offset or driveline angles are wrong! also get out your trusty torpedo level and see if that blocks tilted to the side at all...but anything is possible after all i see people selling big block b and e body k frames all the time so you can switch from a small block!!!

I don't understand the fascination with trying to use the wrong K frame. They aren't that hard to find.

First and foremost, the allure is to use the stuff you already have vs. finding a different K member and swapping it in. Not everybody wants to jack around with swapping a K if they don't have to.

Makes me wonder if that's how they used to put a SB in a D100 since they came with /6's and SB's. Or do pickups use different K's for /6 7 V8?

I've seen a couple of cars done like that and it works. I agree with 349 MagnumRT too, its about using what you have not how much you can spend. Its ALOT cheaper to find a mount that will work than it is to find and hang the correct k-frame. I found out a month or 2 ago that with the 70's style 318 brackets you can use the rubbers from an 88 Supra and it will drop into a 64/65/66 a-body perfect. Didnt cost me a penny to put it in my buddies Dart because I have a blown up Supra engine in the shop and looked at the mounts and . Cheap new discoveries are awesome when they work.

Plus it beats paying a $150 to schumaker for the conversion mounts.

Cool! A lot of people's idea of building a Hot Rod is picking up the phone and ordering the parts, congrats on using the brain cells. Of course this may not be matching #'s!

Freakin hilarious!!

That looks like the way my 340 is mounted. It was originally a /6, and a previous owner swapped in a 340. I wondered if it was a Shumaker mount or what, but it looks very similar to what you have there.

Why? Old Dodges become new Toyotas all the time. I think it's more like "reclaiming"!

How did we get to where it became "uncool" to actually be innovative to solve a problem as opposed to "picking up the phone".

BTW, why is the Trans-Dapt SB-/6 K-member mount kit so much cheaper than Schumacker?
