My motor does not have a dip stick..so I'm thinking about adding clear hose with an upper and lower fitting so I can see the oil. Or a window..I'm worried about water in the oil with this block..

What type of hose can I use that will be ok with the heat and oil.good to see you back Mr.P

I just used some clear plastic hose from the hardware store, and a couple of brass elbows. One end of each elbow had a hose barb. The other end just had a thread, which I brazed to the pan.

Here's another thing that is nice about having a sight tube:

You can see how much the oil level drops when the engine is running. I had someone rev the engine while I watched the tube. It got scary low. As a result, I added another quart.

when I did them at work I tended to use 5/16 or 3/8
tubing...if it was on dyno stuff we used glass tubes
with O-rings so they would stay cleaner.... if you
look at this post thats going on now you can see a
sight tube set up
