Guys, I went to the dark side (F150) for the past year, but am looking to get back into a Dodge/Ram. I had two 2004 Dodges, a 4.7 QC 4x4 and a CTD long bed 2wd and loved them both, except the 4.7's lack of power. Now I am looking for another 1500. I have been looking at 09-12's, but came across a near mint black 2008 5.7 4x4 Laramie with 45k on it. Its fairly steep money, but a very nice truck..........at least from the pics.

Besides the obvious 345 vs 390 horsepower difference in the 5.7's, are there any other reasons to go with the 09+ trucks? Whatever truck I get, will probably be my last as I don't put a lot of miles on them. Thanks for any help or advise.

09+ have the coil spring rear suspension. The 08 and back leaf springs are prone to hoping and even with decent shocks have a tendency to step out over bumps. The new (09+) Rams are the best riding and driving trucks out there.

My 2012 1500 4x4 is the best all around truck I've ever owned.

Wow, I thought my 04 4x4 rode great. A lot better than the 07 F150 4x4 I currently have. Although a set of Rancho 9000's helped immensely. Before I put those on it rode rough.
