With all of the buzz about turbo’s right now, I am at a point where I’m seriously looking at producing turbo “kits” for mopars. The idea is that these will be SIMPLE blow through carb bolt on kits with everything you need from cylinder head to carb hat.

The idea will mainly be focused on the 500~700hp small block crowd, as the motors and cars plentiful, small turbos are lower cost to feed smaller motors, and many production manifolds are easy to come by. I believe I have a plan to eliminate any need for cutting/welding, and bolt right up. Kits would be for A, B, and E bodies, and AT LEAST priced competitively with equivalent HP centrifugal supercharger kits (if not better).

What do you guys think? Any interest?

I think a well thought out, turn key "turbo kit for dummies" at the right price point is needed.

I applaud your efforts on this

Good luck

I'd definetly be interested. I was thinking about doing a s480 or something similar. 12:1 426 sb, blow through e85. I've been tossing it around, just hate fab work. Pm me if your interested! I can be the first test dummy.

Is there a chance your kit would fit the Aspen/Volare? I might be interested in a kit.

What does a good blow-through carb cost?

Will you be selling just pieces for people who want different options?

I will certainly look at the f body stuff but I dont know enough about the k frame to say either way right now if it would work or not. I will say that with the torsion bar moved the down pipe routing is a lot easier though.

I revised the mock up today after reviewing a bunch of body pics. Hoping to finalize it this week so I can check some other cars. I have a 72 demon lined up to check next.

For reference my brand new blow thru E85 750HP holley was $750, but an existing carb can be converted for much less then that.

I will provide plenty of kit options for people if it makea business sense to do so. The hot sides will be big enough to support quite a bit of power, so they will work on everything from a 500hp turbo to 1000hp. Im guessing 1000hp will be about the flow limit for the manifolds.

What gear and converter size did you use, what is your 60 ft. Please keep us posted on results, imo turbos are the cheapest hp out there.

Just the hot side with magnum manifolds would be enough to get me started, also looking to put it in an F body.

I have bragged on your car to a lot of people. I am in the market to do a turbo also.. That was my winter plan anyway. Do a f body and you will get my business.

Just a quick update... Mock up being test fit on an a body Saturday, and I had another preliminary meeting with the mandrel bender today. Tooling and setup costs are right in line with what I was thinking they would be.

Spent a lot of time talking with the supplier today about optimizing the design to keep costs as low as possible... so far so good!

I love this idea! I have an LA 318 that I'm planning on building for my Dart, and the idea has always been to build a turbo stroker out of it.

What I learned yesterday is that power steering is out of the question. The magnum manifolds won't clear the power steering box on an a-body regardless of pump location.

Obviously I can't create a kit based on one off old a body manifolds, so power steering is out of the picture with these kits.

What's funny is that the AC will still work though.. Lol

How much different are the manifolds? I would think that even the A-body manifolds would cause issues with the steering box on power steering cars. Hell, my headers hit the steering box as it sits now. LOL!
