I'm getting close to completing my '70 Cuda, Gen II Hemi, 4-speed, 8.75 rear. I have Super Stock springs in back and seem to remember some differing opinions on whether or not to run a pinion snubber. What do you guys recommend?
It's a street car but I'll probably run drag radials. I have a forged yoke (7290) from Cass and the stock snubber bracket darn near touches it; like 1/16" clearance.

IF the SS springs work correctly the rear should lift up more than the pinion gear will twist up,the snubber will never touch the floor Take it off, it is extra weight I've tested the snubbers on many drag cars, they don't work with good springs

When I ran SS springs, the car was quicker w/o the snubber. Back to back test at the track. This was on a mid 11 sec street/strip car.

If you drive the car on the street it will annoy the crap out of you!

So, will I be annoyed with or without the snubber? Not sure I understand. Please tell.

If you run the aftermarket snubber on the street it will bump the floorpan. Even in the lowest setting..

Like what was said above, with SS springs, which have a shorter front segment to control spring windup on the launch, you shouldn't need the pinion snubber bandaid anymore. Plus you get to save weight, never forget about weight.

Just get some decent shocks and leave the snubber off
I run SS springs and Rancho adjustable shocks set on 8 at the track and 2 on the street

I agree with everyone as I run SS springs and the car was no faster with the snubber on it so I took it off and dont use it. And I drive on the street alot and dont have to worry about it hitting the floor sometimes. Ron

This brings up a question as I have a adjustable snubber and super stock springs on my Challenger. If I take the adjustable snubbber off, should I reinstall a stock snubber or none at all?

As stated the SS springs have the shorter front segment that controls pinion wrap/roll. This creates less leverage. The longer front segment stock style creates more pinion leverage there fore a snubber can be a way to control this effect. Now considering the pinion adjustment. You are trying to align the pinion to the drive shaft under load. The snubber can help with this as it will control over wrap or positive pinion wrap over 0%. The car on the ground should have about 3% to 5% negative angle (pointing down). This will be dictated by HP and Torque the car generates. This can be achieved with tapered shims. Another consideration is the tire contact patch when you launch the car. The more pinion travel you have the more initial tire contact patch you create. This helps eliminate tire spin. Suspension tuning can be an art and is very unique to each car. This can be fun when you are looking for every hundredth of a second you can find.
Good luck
