Trying to install this transmission and it's putting up a fight, plus I have no idea what I'm doing.

I'm going to drop it back down to start all over and have a pretty good idea that I damaged the input seal. Can I replace this seal from the outside like you normaly would, or do I have to take the pump housing apart?

Thanks.

Same as a 727. Seal puller should get it

be sure you get the converter placed all the way into the pump before you lift the tranny in place. you shouldn't be able to get your fingers in between the converter and inner bell housing when it's all the way in. sometimes I've had to stand the transmission up on end to accomplish this.

Yeah, that's what I did wrong, I should have asked you Guys first.

I went by the distance from ring gear to bellhousing face when I was taking the old one out. About 1/2 inch.

I had the TC seated gently on the new one but figured it was way too far in there and thought it was pushing on the seal. Also wasn't sure how to slide the converter up to the drive plate when everything would be in place..... So, I pulled it away to match the one that came out.

There should be at least 1/2" from the bellhousing face to the drive lugs to ensure proper pump engagement.
