We finally brought it home today. A week and 1/2 ago we drove to Martinsville, VA to purchase our 2006 Ram 2500 CTD. After we left the dealer, we had major problems. It was towed back to the dealer and after their troubleshooting, the transmission ate itself. They really worked with us on getting a better transmission and torque convertor. I even shipped them Amsoil to use. Today I met their delivery driver in Bowling Green, VA. When we test drove it, I noticed the temperature gauge would float over 200 deg. I guess my main question is what is the normal operating temp? We plan on using to pull a travel trailer. And I don't want to ruin the new transmission. Need some ideas on what to look for and possible repairs. Any help would be appreciated.

Another question.... I know about putting it tow mode, when pulling a trailer. What excately does that do??? Thanks for being patient
Raises the shift points and shifts harder. I use Tow/haul ALL the time.

Update.......... Replaced the thermostat Friday night. The o-ring gasket was starting to go bad. The ASE tech I talked with told me that when the trans went bad, it overworked the thermostat. When this happens at his dealership, The thermostat is replaced. Added 1bottle of Amsoil Coolant Booster, and refilled the system. Ran it up to the Williamsgrove Open the next day. Temps never got above 200 on the hills. Ran 344 miles, and when I filled up, my fuel mileage was 21.1 mpg. This coming Saturday, we are going back to PA to bring home a 32ft. travel trailer.
