This might be a hard question to answer.. a TRUE merge collector HAS to be designed for a certain engine.. but from the little bit I know about merge collectors that COULD be as high as 25-30 hp.. again.. if designed for that engine.. the diameter on the inlet, taper rate and max diameter then the taper rate down to exit diameter... its much like a 2 cycle expansion camber... do it wrong and you move the power range way down or way out of the rpm range... I played with them on the dyno and finally gave up with what I was playing with... so to just buy a merge collector off the shelf is wasting your time and money... JMO

Greg built my headers with a merge set up. for the cost of a regular collector you can bet we'll be playing with it...... someday. I seem to find alot of other things to do other than work on the car.

We swapped out some home built, crappy mild steel 2 1/4 with 4 inch collector for some custom, $2500, Stainless, 2 1/4 equal(ish) length with 4 inch merge collectors. Et's and MPH never changed a bit but they sure looked a lot better

Thats the time about headers and the merge collectors.. it has to be matched to the engine and the rpm that it will be at MOST of the time... I did header work at Chrysler for about 15 years and near the end I was playing with merge collectors... but the merge coll wants to be in a certain rpm range most of the time.. thats why the pro stocks use them.. they dont vary a ton in rpm like a lot of other engines... I put about 40 hours into merge collectors on the dyno to come up with a formula but I never really got there
