Building a Dana for my junk this winter. Ive seen numerous discussions of the different housing ends available, ie mopar ends, big ford ends, etc.

Are the mopar ends and bearings sufficient or are the big ford bearings the better deal? If it matters, street car, low 11's for now, but will grow to more.

Thanks

I bought my 8.75 end's thru Jeg's and were made by Strange, I haven't had any durability issues and can use the Mopar brake's, I have never used the Ford end's so I cannot compare them.

You can use the special big ford type bearings with a special mopar end. There are a number of big sealed bearings avaliable, that are much better then the typical "green" bearing, but cost a bit more. Mark williams seems to me to have widest selection for many applications.

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

If you use the big Ford ends you can get the disc brake set up of a ford explorer. Was $385.00 when I bought.

What ever ends that you get make sure that they are billet and have enough surface area to compensate for housing misalignment.

I like to use strange or MW ends ,around $100

If you are on a budget 9-plus sells them also they are $30 cheaper I think.

There is nothing wrong with the mopar ends and bearings that I know of. I had Moser put the Mopar ends on my dana with the Green bearings when I had it narrowed 5 years ago , no issues !

Late Big Ford for the Explorer disc brakes. I have done the swap twice now. I fyou know your local junkyard guy, you can get teh setup (brackets, calipers, rotors for @ $100) he thing is, you have to remove the axle to get teh caliper bracket off, that is why most junkyards won't do it for you, unless you buy the whole thing. AND to make matters worse, through Ford, the brackets are like $230 EACH! But, again, if you are friendly with local junkyard, look for ANY 96-01 Ford Explorer, and yank the stuff off. Hope that helps.
