I picked up a used wiper motor but it doesn't mate up with my wiper actuator arm. The groove in the arm is way smaller than the arm that came with the wiper motor as you can see.

My B body arm

Arm that came with the motor

Correct arm on top.

I would try to use the arm that came with it, but the plastic cam that attaches to the long arms doesn't fit on the spud as you can see. They are very different.

I've got the body of this unit restored. Can I swap out the big drive gear inside the housing so that my arm will fit? Does anyone know what model car this wiper mechanism goes to?

I’m listening.

Hi Bad Bee, what is the part number on the barrel of the wiper motor that you bought and also on the crank arm that came with it. From what I can see the motor on your on your picture looks to to be for a 68 or before.

Stephan, I think you are correct. I did a bit of digging on the web and it does look like the slot on that arm is bigger on the 68 back cars. I guess I'm off to dig for a modern motor. I have this motor all bead blasted and painted up. I'm wondering if I could just swap the gear so that the arm will fit. Any ideas on which year motors will work on a 70 coronet?

Looks like some careful Dremel work would get you there.

Hmmmmmmm. That's a thought. I don't know well it would run if I was off center by a half a tick... I've got a bead on a 1972. Almost wonder if it would be worth it to just swap out the two transmissions or just start over for that matter.

If the crank has P/N 2580934 and V Speed on it all you need is the nylon bushings for a 68 to make it work. PM me I have them.

BBad Bee, Whatever you do, make sure your wiper motor is set up (switch plate) right so that it will park correctly. It is a good idea to remove the wiper blade/arm when you will try it on.

Are you saying to make sure that the plate is not 180 degrees out? How will I know?

ns1aar, the arm that goes to the wiper motor says V Speed.

I am assuming this is the bushing I need.

I ordered a bushing from R/T specialties. After going back and looking, it appears that the hole offset completely backward from the original piece. Is this for a two speed motor? look at it next to the cam that was on the wiper blade setup.

The crank and bushings shown on the red carpet should work with the 68 motor. The bushing you bought is for a 2sp but I've heard that it will work on a 69-70 b-body. Other than being dirty the one you have looks fine. If you could post a pic of the switch plate we might be able to see if its clocked right

bruce, what is the "switch plate"? The picture of the bushing on the red carpet I grabbed off eBay. I went to the local You Pick yard and picked up this. It came off a 68 imperial. it looks like the one in the picture. The metal plate it sits on is there to create a pocket covered by a rubber boot. The imperial has it's linkage external under the cowl vent. Will it work?

Switch plate is the plate on top on the wiper motor.Depending on the year there is a tiny notch or mark that should be oriented in the right place depending on you car model.

I don't know never tried it. I have both types here and looking at them I would be reluctant to try it.
I have what you are looking for
