Picked this up earlier this summer. Not for everyone but I just love this car! At the local car show not only did I win Best Modified Mopar but I also had this 4 year old girl come up to my car, try to hug it, stare up into the eyes and ask my car it's name!

The eyes sadly is one of the greatest features that people comment on and 99% of the compliments are good.

The car is a 1971 Dodge Dart Swinger. Used to be a slant 6 car before it became this.

Engine is a 440 Magnum built by K&S Machine. Dyno'd at 430hp and 500ft-lbs of Torque.

Rear end is a Moser built 8-3/4 with 3.91 suregrip.

The transmission is a 727 automatic with a 2800 stall converter and currently sporting a B&M Quicksilver Ratchet shifter.

Future plans for the car are to change the 18" wheels to 15" and also contemplating a fiberglass lift of hood with a scoop, all in flat black.

The car looks nice, congrats but I would seriously reconsider a lift off hood, I had one on my Fury for years and finally came to my senses and made it hinge again.

Much more user friendly. DAMHIK

The car looks great. I personally would leave the wheels on it and the color is great.

If it were me, I'd keep the 18" wheels and fix the stance a little bit by lowering the car and reducing the rake. But it's your car, and man is it cool.

The only problem with keeping the wheels is they rub on the front when turning. Before I bought the car it actually had 22" wheels.

I like the wheels. The stance is a little high though. Where do the wheels rub? 15's would look out of place IMO.

Very nice car, glad you're happy with it. At 430hp/500tq the 440 must be a pretty mild build - nearly stock. Easy to bump it up from there and retain good street manners if you choose.

The one thing I would change, in addition to what you have planned, is finish off the tail stripe so it continues onto the valence. They end up like yours when the car gets the stripe added without the valence installed. It's supposed to seamlessly transition from quarter panel to valence and continue on down to the lower edge of the bottom rear body line. Sorry if this has been pointed out before, but this is a major pet peeve of mine regarding the '70 Dart tail stripe.

Yes and no. The original ads for the 1970 Dart Swingers show the stripe not continuing onto the valance. Yet some of the ads show the full stripe.

I admit it would certainly look a lot better if it did continue on.

I'd say the factory cars with the stripe not continuing are likely mistakes. The original intent from the designer's perspective was that it continue uninterrupted to the bottom edge.
