anyone know if there is a standard pressure between pump and regulator? pump is in rear at cell and regulator is on front inner fender skirt using -10 line from cell to pump -8 from pump to reg. and -8 to log to carb. 6.5psi@carb. 600hp n/a application. currently have 8psi between pump and reg. measured at reg. input. also, using a davinci 1100 dom.

What pump are you running?
Most/ many fuel pumps have a preset output pressure to the regulator, which does it's job by regulating the pressure down for use at the carb.
Having said all that, 10 pounds of pressure seems low to me as an input pressure to the regulator.

Edit..... For instance the minimum pressure a magnfuel 500 puts out is like 28

using a SX fuel sytems pump. same as the edelbrock. 160gph. pump was preset to 12psi,but I couldn't get my carb psi down low enough, so I turned the pump down til I could get carb to 6psi. pump pressure now at 8psi.

I ran a Holley black on my 422 for years and it worked fine, deadhead.
But I caved in to peer pressure and stepped up to a volumax 250 with bypass and new plumbing and didn't see squat difference.

I would get a better fuel pressure regulator so you can run the pump at its designed pressures so you don't reduce the volume to the carb. Lots of gremlins out there ready to pounce on a racer at a moments notice Fuel volume and delivery is one thing it is impossible to have to much of, just like money, traction, torque and fun

dan davinici suggested I use a holley $25 pressure regulator dead headed. he's tried the more expensive ones and says the cheap holley non return works the best.
I did not follow his suggestion and bought a aeromotive return style. thought it would be easier on my pump.
